Aerobic weightlifting

I just recently stumbled upon an old article by Nelson Montana about the evils of aerobic exercise and at the bottom there is a note by the editors about an aerobic weightlifting plan that Poliquin was making using supersets to keep your heart rate up. Has anybody tried anything like this? I have been doing my own version for a week and a half now with workouts lasting between 30 to 54 minutes long 5 or 6 times a week, with jumping jacks before I hit the weights and also thrown in between sets to keep my heart rate up on certian exercises. I have found this to be superior to areobics, at least it is a hell of a lot more enjoyable anyway. I have not been able to completely gage my success yet because I was eating too little and actually lost 7.5lbs in the first week, probably mostly muscle, but I did loose over 1/2" on my waist measurement in just seven days. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this, and what results they got. Is it better to lift weights that way or is it better to just lift weights then do aerobics afterward? Does anybody know if Poliquin actually wrote the article, if so where can I find it?

Sounds like German Body Comp. Read the “Bowlful of Jelly” article at T-mag. Look in the FAQ section.

He wrote a book called “Manly Weight Loss” (and if i’m wrong on the title I’m sure someone will correct me) which discusses those principals. Although I haven’t read it so i don’t know if any of the routines are based on supersets.

Thanks Paul, the “Bowl full of jelly” atricle was exactly what I was looking for.
