Hey everyone, so basically I dropped out of an out-of state university due to the high cost, but had plans to return. I enrolled in one online class this term with the same school. I had a 92% two weeks ago and it keep dropping even though I was keeping up with the work.
Today my instructor informed me I had no chance of even getting a 30% with the last test because of something called ‘problem sets’ which apparently account for 5%. It shows an 81% currently and I’m so confused how to act.
I’m joining the Air force(got 81 on asvab) and need my transcripts from them and I know they’ll withhold it because I’m not paying 3000 for nothing, any advice?!
This doesn’t make any sense. You have an 81% in the class, have at least one test left, and are going to fail the class because you didn’t do these “problem sets” which only count for 5% of your grade?
Either you didn’t read the syllabus and don’t understand how the grades work for the class, the way I read this was wrong, or else your teacher is on some serious drugs.

Yeah I think she might be haah. Apparently there’s 4 problem sets though. She sent me an email later saying the best grade I could get was a 75 which is a contradiction from her previous email. Not to mention my grade still showed an 815 after the class ended. Is this grounds for a lawsuite?
The first thing you should do is complete the “problem sets” if possible.
Then do real well on the last test.
See what happens, and then go to the department head/supervisor if things do not add up.

Lol, dude what are you goin to sue her for? Not doing your work? You didn’t do what amounts to 20% of the total grade. So highest you can get is an 80, if you ace everything else.

No lol, I’m frustrated becuase she had sent me and email saying I could only get 30%, so I didn’t take the exam and then later she said my best possible grade would have been a 75%. Blatant lie that resulted in me not passing. I also would have done the problem set if she hadn’t sent the first email

I’m sorry if this sounds a bit harsh, but when someone says you’re going to fail your immediate response is to just give up instead of trying to work around it or clarify what the hell happened to your marks?
Sure, she caused the whole problem but you really didn’t do yourself any favours there by not taking the exam.
I’d just give up and take your licks. Consider this the first of many hard lessons you will learn going forward in your life. Learn how to fail at things whilst preserving your dignity, then to get back up, and keep moving forward.
Def try and figure things out with the professor. However, if worst comes to worst can’t you still withdraw from the class and take an incomplete? Won’t affect your GPA and def looks way better on a transcript than a 30

No you don’t understand. I had tried to take the exam before she sent me the email. The support team at “proctoru” had told her the connection wasn’t working, and she never gave me a chance at taking it, in addition to the lies about the best case scenerio being a 30. I’m going to try to post the emails where it shows her lying. So I’m saying I would have taken the test.

I dunno this one is confusing to me. It reads like she’s telling you if you get atleast a 30 on your exam you’ll get a D…maybe I’m not reading it right though

It sounds to me like you misunderstood what she said. She didn’t say the highest grade you could get was a 30%.
It sounds like she said you couldn’t pass the class without completing the problem sets and you could get a D if you get at least 30% on the last exam. To me that means hand in the problem sets and don’t completely bomb the final.
EDIT: I just read the part where you tried to take the test, but had tech issues

No kidding I didn’t understand, it would’ve been useful if you’d given that info before rather than just a “I didn’t take the test”.
Also, what replies have you sent to her regarding those two emails?
I’d also like to note that even though your grade still says 81.5% you have two items below it marked “not graded”. What were those items?

My bad, I forgot to clarify that before. I replied asking her how this could be, and haven’t gotten a response. Those things below the 81 aren’t anything, it’s just a long list of the work throughout the semester but that doesn’t count in the grade. Apparently the only things that count are tests and problem sets, so the rest of the work didn’t count. My grade now says 71% with the last test entered as a zero. Hell was once described to me as a place with no logic or reason. I think I’ve entered hell, and brought some of you with me
