Honestly, do these people think humans evolved to sit on their asses and eat crap? We were built to eat meat, lift rocks, tackle whooly mammoths and shit.

Please note: just because we are built to tackle whooly mammoths is not an excuse to bang fat chicks. That is all.
lol yes it is

I was talking to a friend about soy protein and I didn’t want to get preachy but I told her she should do some research on it and that there was some evidence that it could be harmful. She’s an intelligent woman and I know that she will look into it so I left it at that.

The problem was, a friend of hers overheard me. So the friend asked me what kind of protein I use if I don’t use soy. I told her that I use whey protein. Her response:

“You shouldn’t use whey protein, it’ll make your body hold onto fat and you’ll gain weight.”
blank stare
“No seriously, you’ll get fat if you keep using whey protein.”

At that I just laughed, and I think the realization that I weigh about 100 pounds less than her struck her at that moment and she just turned and walked away quickly.
Ha, as usual, MarvelGirl is right on target. After their goofball comments I just pause, look them slowly & pointedly up & down & laugh. Works like a charm.

I still can’t bring myself to do this to my fat sister-in-law, though. She’s wonderful otherwise, & I love her, so I’ve just been grinding my teeth & nodding when she starts telling me how to eat. Oh, well.

Me and some clients of mine are on the V-Diet right now. People just can’t tell me enough about how unhealthy the diet is and how I’m ruining my kidneys and I’m going to put it all back on and then some. I lost 27 pounds the last time I did the V-Diet and it took me over a year to get back to the same weight with healthy eating post V-Diet (this time around I’ve only lost 10 pounds so far).

It funny because people will often ask how I got to look like I do, and they’ll want me to write down my diet and exercise programs, but then when I tell them about it they go on about how there are so many better and more effective ways to get big and lean. I’m always just like, ok, if its so easy and you know a better way, then why don’t you look as good as me and why did you ask for my advice to begin with.

The best was when I strained a calf doing squats before work one day and so I was limping around on the factory floor. People would ask what happened and when I told them they would respond with, “that’s why I don’t exercise.” Nobody wants to talk about ways to look good nekkid, but they can’t get enough of all the excuses not to.

She is the person that tried using whey protein and got fat off of it. Some guy was telling my friend that whey protein doesn’t do anything. This is what he really was trying to say “I took whey protein but didn’t gain a pound so you won’t either”. Go figure.

When I was little I used to take my older brother’s weider powders, but I never trained or anything. I always wondered why I didn’t gain any muscle. I love being in GNC or something when somebody comes in and asks the guy at the counter how they should go about losing weight. “Just take this here protein and this here pill.” They don’t even talk about training or nutrition. Of course, they wouldn’t make any money if they gave the customer a training and nutrition program and told them to come back in a month or two to buy some supplements that might enhance the progress they’re getting from sound training and nutrition.

Kickass parker.

“That many eggs aren’t good for you, to much cholesterol!!!” (from overweight woman who doesn’t get laid by her husband anymore, yes she even told me that subtly) (Mind you I’m eating 6-8 eggs every day about and my hdl is through the roof and ldl is low below optimally last time I check)

“Eating meat again? That much meat isn’t good for you be careful” (I eat maybe a lb or 8 oz every day)
(this comment coming from a woman who seriously eats out of the vending machine all day and takes many breaks to go smoke cigarettes, she said she’s down to only a pack a day LOL she’s like that’s better then most people LOL @ that rationalizing)

honestly most others don’t bother me (I bombard them with loads of info and terminology their like wtf?). Yet I don’t know if it’s just me but I can’t carry a conversation well when some one calls adding muscle or losing weight toning…I despise this and want to strangle some people in the nicest way possible

I just say ‘if your so experienced why so fat?’ you will get it all the time.
I had a classic one ‘deadlifting is bad for your back try incorporating your arms more to shift the weight’
I said ‘when you can lift as much as me I might listen to your shitty advice’ Ive learnt its best to be rude,to the people that dont know what theyre talking about;and take in and try at least once the advice given by people that do know what theyre talking about.

‘‘Protein shakes make you fat.’’
‘‘It all turns to fat in the end.’’

When my car was being repaired a friend called out to collect me ne morning and was intruiged at my morning whey shake. He kept asking questions about it’s taste and such and kept looking at it so I offered him a taste. His facial expression changed to one of a person who was watching something really painful happen to another person and said ‘‘nah, don’t want to take the risk’’

I got this today. “I did deadlifts once but it made my lower back sore”

Also I went into GNC last month to browse there clearance items, and a little girl working there asked me if I have ever taken protein before. I looked at her kind of hurt at first, then began to name most of the brands they supply followed by milk, eggs, beef, nuts…

The classics never get old:

  • It will all turn to fat. As if somehow your body just converts muscle tissue into fat tissue. Is that like how it turns bone into skin?

  • You tell them how you do something Well I heard/read from somewhere that you should then they go into detail about the exact opposite thing you just said

  • All that protein is bad for your Kidneys - Even when you tell people you have read the research showing that it is not they still hold on to the belief.

  • Is it healthy to eat that much insert food of choice ?

The level of cognitive dissonance it must take for these people is really astounding. I really do have to admire the amount of gall it takes for someone who is clearly overweight, never sets foot in a gym, wouldnt know a lean protein source if it was clucking in front of them, and lives off a diet of fast food and candy bars to come up to someone who obviously goes to the gym, obviously knows how to maintain low levels of body fat and higher than average levels of muscle mass, and then offer advice unsolicited as if we do not know what we are doing.

I used to get it ALL the time from my ex’s mom. I went from a 150 pounder to a lean 190 pounder and she still used to tell me stuff like I had no idea what I was doing.

Its all defense mechanisms. Its just them trying to make themselves feel better by having the “right” information, even if they dont use it.

Thats a good one, havent quite gotten that yet.

“I used to exercise, but I stopped because it was showing signs that it worked”

beef, nuts…
What no sausage?

Isn’t the same true of most endeavors though? Friends always have similar things to say about any subject.
This is true. I think most people just feel like they need to offer their opinion on ‘knowledge’ on pretty much any subject that’s being discussed even though most of the time they haven’t a clue about the subject.

Bodybuilding and physique training are the perfect targets for people like this. Scupting a good physique takes determination, patience and discipline. With the addition of it being ‘an honest mans endeavour’(i.e. you get out of it what you put into it), it makes many people feel uncomfortable about their own bodies and self image and they therefore must shit all over what you are trying to do.

“You’re big enough, don’t become like one of those bodybuilder types”

“Take it easy, that’s too heavy for your frame” very common by family members, after they ask haha

Eggs seem to get a lot of concerned for my health, warnings and also nuts

Oh and my favorite, all supplements are labeled as “powder”. “You eating/drinking that powder again?”

That’s why I like my supp store! Of course they’re trying to sell their Xplode-superpump-GH factor but I witnessed one time when a rather chubby “thug” came in and the sales guy (who is actually a competitive bodybuilder) told him: "Look, before I hook you up with this fat burner I’d like you to get your diet in line, not like “yesterday cheeseburger, today kebab”.

That’s corporate integrity right there. Plus I’d argue that this concepts attracts a batch of regular customers like me and thus is more successful in the long run.

/hijack, BTW the egg comments are what really grind my gears, it’s like people never even heard of the difference between hdl and ldl…

i get all of the above from my friends and peers at work, i honestly believe that its because of the fact that you are constantly reminding them of how lazy and out of shape they really are, and do i dare say inadequate!!!

ive been lifting religously for the past year and have transformed by physique whilst my “workout buddies” only lasted a few weeks, determination…some have it, most dont. the latter loves to shoot you out of the sky, who needs friends like that… efff em!

Lately my friends ( more like people I know) have noticed I have been putting on some muscle. It seems all the fat and out of shape people want to give me usefull tips on how to do it better, or warn me of what I am doing wrong.

  • Eat chicken breasts 3 times a day
  • Here is a good routing to get big muscles
  • I have a friend that got HUGE doing this exercise.
    Then it gets negative
  • Wait until you stop and it all turns to fat
  • Eating that many eggs will ruin your cholestrol
  • I used to workout until I got injured, You will get there too

The list goes on and its annoying, but I just bite my tongue and either say “Thats cool” or “That sucks”.
Anyone else get these kinds of words of wisdom from the fat and lazy people in your lives?
it sucks huh? Dont you just hate when you look into your friend’s wife’s eyes you KNOW she wants to fuck you? I do.

I bet they last all of 5 seconds. I’ve only been working out and eating healthy for little over a month and my coworkers all think I’m weird. “You’re young! Why are you worried about your health?”
