Do you mean that unfortunate lad who lost all his massive bulk and became a sissy man who won three consecutive Mr. O? ![]()

Heard he was over 200 lbs at some point but never saw a pic of him at this weight ⦠and he looks great at that weight too. Thanks for posting the pics.
You have to give him credit for scaling down while competing against bigger guys , especially when his main criticism was not being ābig enoughā.
Definitely one of the best ever.
My appreciation of Zaneās physique has increased a lot over time. Agreed, one of the best.
Iām sure thereās a video on it in his āprivate hit listā
Good for him!
Same old regurgitated HiT jargon! Everyone should just read Bulletin 1 & 2 along with Kenās Ultimate Exercise! Bayeās stuff is superfluous after that! No credentials, no studies, no new original ideas, so pay for what?
He is a wannabe bodybuilder with no genetics, with zero practical competition experience. His athletic experience is zero! If he is the future of HiT, as Ken states, I want no part of HiT with him as a spokesperson!
Hey borisv, so you have utilised bjās zone training (jreps)?
How did you find it for muscle gain etc?
I have 2 of his zone training books but havent really given the protocal a good run yet.
I was joking with the shameless plug. Itās his answer to every question
Yes, you are so right!
Does he allow questions on his site?
He tried his HiT jargon here , but I stopped his anti- cardiovascular nonsense! Facts and logic stop HiT rhetoric on cardio!
Um⦠The only person mentioning Drew Baye is you. He has not posted on this thread. And you stopped him? You feeling awesome about your typing skills?
It must be so difficult to have Baye, McGuff, Little and whoever else living in your head rent free.
Zone training (JReps) were the single reason why I started to grow / adding muscle mass after doing standard HIT protocol for many years without any gains aside from getting stronger in a handful of lifts. The beauty of Zone Training method (and the variety of sub-methods within it) is that even with a limited number of exercise choices you can structure an annual workout plan not repeating the same workout twice within a year. I agree with AJ who said that he always added size before getting stronger. That was/is the case for me as well. I never get any muscle (but can get fat) just getting stronger (and eating more), but I surely get stronger after I got some size gains. Therefore, I no longer train for strength - Zone Training and other methods developed by BDJ are superior in that respect.
I suggest you slowly delve into the Jreps starting with simple ones (like 4 reps in the middle of ROM plus 1 full rep) or simple halves, learn how to do them properly with the exercise choices you have. Donāt move too quickly to more advanced versions - take your time. Learn to relax muscles which are not directly involved. Proper breathing. Donāt be fixated on the loads you have used prior to starting JReps - in most cases, expect 30-50% reduction in order to feel the method properly (at least, in the beginning).
I still remember that ābuzzā feeling in the muscles after first couple of weeks of starting Zone Training. That was some 12-15 years ago. Good old timesā¦
Yeah i really did enjoy doing these several years back. I focus mainly on halves and thirds. I preferred the extreme version with 20sec rest between zones so i could use heavier weights.
Im gonna give it another run, especially as im now 54 and think this would be a good break for my joints with trying to progressively lift heavier.
There were a number of advanced versions in JReps2 book which I liked even more than the core methods described in the first book. Since my body adapts very quickly (in about two weeks at most) I have to change things very often (certainly, others may be more lucky), so I would not recommend to stick to the same methods/patterns for a long period of time. Itās better to agitate muscles with new methods and it makes workouts more interesting as well and less a routine.
Yeah ive gt the second book also, but havent tried the advanced patterns yet. But looking fwd to working through them all.
Thanks for reminding me of jreps and these books that i have had hidden away and forgotten about.
are you read Christian Thibaudeau the neurotype atricles ? what neurotype you think i, you are ?
thank you
Thanks for the link to neurotyping. Havenāt seen it before. Actually, I am none of them. Definitely neither 1A nor 2A. A mix of 1B (especially when I was young: competitive, easy motor learning, natural athlete, fast, agile, good at multi-tasking, high self-esteem, goal-driven), 1B (I donāt have lower self-esteem and I am not motivated to being liked, but naturally introverted - I am INTJ, much better 1-on-1 than in a group, emotional when it comes to marriage/family/friends, do not sacrifice myself, do not choke under pressure, can take leadership position because others suck all the time), and Type 3 (introverted, but donāt like a routine when it comes to training, pragmatic, but prefer novelty and variation, do not take uncalculated risks, great observer, do not intellectualize, but make decisions / do not procrastinate, think a lot, but do even more, less inclined to create social connections). In general, a good attempt by CT, but donāt think itās applicable to me. As BDJ said many years ago, there is no such thing as an ideal training program.
Itās really a shame that JReps/Zone Training was not embraced more people in the HIT community, to their detriment, IMO. The almost infinite number of ways that one could apply the method to oneās training really cannot be overstated in its importance. there are days where I combine Jreps with 30-10-30, or SS,or Static holds, or traditional reps, you name it, within the same workout or even the same set. Also too bad, BDJ is no longer part of this forum.
myself fit here too .
i think become older ,is big one in term of programs and workouts.
@borisv Interesting! Do you know what sort of training McGuff switched to?
I agree 100%.
how frequently we have to switch to different, reutines, workouts, programs ?
adaptations and progressing how to measure and calculate ?
thank you
