has anyone ever made it through the holidays on the AD? With the big food holidays approaching, Thangsgiving and Christmas, and plenty of food without nutrition labels to go with them are put on your table, how do you go about managing the diet?
I know the AD gives some leeway in the sense that you can screw up one day, go back to normal the next and be fine but sometimes you may be put in situations where youre on vacation or have back to back days of family dining where you may not be able to revert back to the old ways the next day.
so do you just try to plan ahead and make your family holidays your carb up days, or do you just switch back the next day, or is there anything else possible?
People typically gain weight over the hoildays not becuase they eat big meals on thanksgiving and christmas, but because they generally let their entire diet go to shit from From Halloween to New Years Day. If you eat like a slob on one day a month it shouldn’t set you back if the rest of your diet is order
In most cases there are bad options and not so bad options at family events and dinners out. If you are on the road and the only option is McDonalds (unlikely but possible) for instance, you could have a grilled chicken salad, or get a hamburger and remove the bun. Anything further up the chain restaurant-wise just gets easier to find options.
More on target with your concern are family gatherings. Everyone brings a dish? Or maybe grandma makes a big dinner for everyone? Usually there is a turkey, ham, or leg of lamb at the center of all of this. That is definately Anabolic Diet approved. If there are greens those are fair game too. There will almost definately be SOME kind of veggie. If it is a higher carb one, just eat it in moderation and limit the carbs a bit elsewhere in the day.
If your family really cares about you they will understand if you choose to be selective about what you partake of. Be a man and make decisions that bring you closer to your goal instead of making excuses for pandering to other people, or what you THINK other people want.
Besides, if the holiday is on a weekend you can go crazy anyway.
Agree with moon-knight with the caveat that theoretically ‘go crazy’ means on the carbs, not on everything you see. There are still restrictions on weekends I believe.
Desserts are the biggest problem for me at these gatherings; there’s always stacks. I’ve decided that this year I’ll bring some home with me and just eat them on the weekend. Sort of easier for self control that way
