Adex-DHT-Hair Loss

Hey guys. As usual there is always some complications about improving the quality of ones life. I’m 66 and, for the past year, found that my primary doctor believes in T shots. So far, so good. My T levels are pretty decent considering I get a shot every 2 weeks. My E level is always in the 20’s since I take liquid Adex. My new prob is that I’m starting to show more scalp as each week goes by.

Suppposedly, a test metabolite, dht, can be the cause of this. I take various nutrients that are claimed to keep the dht in check. Now, I saw a blurb that says Adex can cause the loss of hair. Have any of you noticed the same prob? I, obviously, don’t want top give up the T protocol that I’m on. I have lost 60lbs with it and, overall, feel so much better.

I also don’t like to take any medication unless it is absolutely needed for some illness. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. It appears that T-Nation readers are the only people up to date on what guys really need.

I don’t have any advice except even if your hair falls out being bald is great. No shampooing or combing and women like it. I’d still shave it even if I could grow it.

I am going to try a bottle of DS Laboratories Revita Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo to shut down the DHT in my scalp. The main active ingredients are apple polyphenols. May be the most potent substance for hair loss, look it up.

You can try Finasteride or Dutasteride. Those are the main pharmaceutical methods of inhibiting DHT and they don’t tend to have many side effects. If you’re on a budget, the cheapest route is to buy the generic 5mg Finasteride pills (brand name version is “Proscar”) at an overseas pharmacy and take one fourth of a pill per day. A year’s supply can be had for about $100.

Dutasteride is supposedly much more effective at blocking DHT but it’s also more expensive (year’s supply = >$300) and hasn’t been studied as thoroughly as Finasteride. They’re certainly no miracle cure but they’re the main option right now…

Good luck

Thanks for the info guys.
