Im no scientist that is true. My experience tells me that I get better results by exposing the muscles to a fuller range of tension and the harder I tend to contract, the more muscle fibers I am stimulating. By stimulating more fibers I am producing better results. As such I do not choose to perform a single exercise or choose to exercise in a limited range of motion. I use various exercises to stimulate the muscle from different angles and ranges of motion. If this didnt work then we all would probably sit around doing half dumbell curls and getting the same kinds of gains.

Man, there are some ass bags on here arent there? If you have nothing meaningful to say then shaddap.
The original poster has a ligitimate issue he wanted addressed and most of this has been telling him he has nothing he can do about it short of build bigger muscles. A little more detailed help explaining how that process works might just help him. Many come here with no experience and are looking for help, not sarcasm.
P.S. My daughter has bigger guns than those.
i find the best way to train chest is to get a heavy dumbell and just lay it on top of your chest. Don’t press it just keep it nestled against your teet like a lil’ iron baby.
also alot of experts recommend deep sustained stretching post exercise to stretch and gorge the fascia with nutrition/oxygen rich blood…don’t do that.
Rub your nipples, roll them actually, between thumb and forefinger in between each set. it’s a really hardcore move and you’ll gain respect from others at your gym.

Yes, that is true, but his question has been answered. You’re beating a dead horse.

lol
in all seriousness evaluate how much is your ego controlling your chest development.
i use to love training decline presses first because i could go so heavy. Relatively heavy based on my size at the time. 165lbs doing decline presses with 85lb dumbbells feels good.
Lat involvement and less ROM makes declines easier.
If you want it to grow lose the ego to a degree. Prioritize doing inclines first, it may help. Controlling vs. heaving weight allows you to concentrate on form and connecting to what it feels like to use your chest, not your chest a little and synergists a plenty.
sense stripping away my ego a bit i’ve added 25 more pounds to my then 165lb. frame. good luck.
I basically max out for weight ranges…gives me a better picture of what weight i need to use for an “X” amount of reps. i usually do this when i switch up my routine.
My pecs do not connect very close to center on my sternum. In fact my left one even has a sort of a crescent shape area off from upper center where there is nothing either. It is just the shape of my pecs. I know there is a pro or two who has a chest like mine.
It is what it is. I carry fat in my chest and my stomach mainly (if you call what I carry fat), but nothing on that middle area, I can have 3 inches deep of pec on the outer area and have a bony sternum.
It is what it is. No matter our answer, you’d have to train and eat and sleep to find out if we were right, so go train, eat and sleep and see what happens for you.
Also, I know you were just asking to learn and nothing wrong with that. Go read an anatomy book, it is what I did. Not to learn in any real sense, but to at least make clear how the body works on a basic muscular / skeletal level. That alone will make so many things clear.

i have to start out by saying i dont disagree with the article posted as the guy would obviously know better than me, before i get crucified. but i will say that whenever i bench i do feel more of a tightness in the out region of my chest than the inner at my sternum. its also the area thats grown more. one guess im thinkin is because the shoulders carry a lot of the load and this part of the chest is closer to the shoulders maybe?
The pec minor also runs underneath the outer part of pec major, so that muscle getting bigger can make it look like only the outer part of the pec major is growing. Make sure to keep your shoulder blades pinned back and down throughout the entire movement and finish the reps by locking out your elbows.
Have you ever asked one of these guys to show a picture of their chest? I have. It becomes pretty clear very quickly why they think their chest isn’t growing in certain areas.
Making this complicated for someone like that serves no purpose…but to hinder progress.[/quote]
there was actually nothing complicated about this response…

Correction, it is nothing complicated to someone who already understands the concept of gaining muscle mass.
Many of these guys DON’T. Some haven’t even figured out they need to gain weight to gain significant muscle mass since they seem to think they will drastically drop body fat and get huge at the exact same time.
When someone doesn’t even grasp the basics, you don’t skip them to give even more information.

i get what you’re saying buti guess i just think maybe things on here are too targeted to “everyone”. i guess i just think if someone doesnt understand something elementary for example then thats why the beginner forum and articles are here for them. no?

In all honesty, they probably do need a “General Fitness” forum where we can ship everyone who thinks having 15" arms is a huge accomplishment or those who think you can’t hold down a job and live a “bodybuilding lifestyle”.
You are right, the ones who will make the most progress don’t need to be told that. However, look how few of those actually make threads to start with. The fanboys are the main ones confusing everyone else.
