Adding Carbs Pre/Post WO on Anabolic Diet

As I stated in another topic I started to smell really bad like ammonia. Taking citrulline malate solved that, but of course not the real problem.
I think I might be burning some proteine or muscle in this proces and want to solve that problem too.

During the week I eat a lot of meat, eggs and fish and also a lot of veggies wich provide me 50 gram of carbs. Whenever I workout I start to smell like ammonia after about 20 minutes.
On the weekend I eat a lot of rice, pasta and sometimes potaties to fill up the glycogen and of course get the anabolic insuline spike!

Now my question is: Will adding 50 gram of maltodextrine pre-workout and 50 gram post workout compromise the Anabolic Diet? Or will it add to the muscle gain effect?

Try it out and see if it works if you want, but then its no longer the anabolic diet. What you are proposing is called a targeted ketogenic diet, and its not uncommon.

if you are following the anabolic diet, yes, it will compromise it. that protocol is not part of the diet. that is why you have the “carb-up” weekends.

if you are going to have 100 grams carbs every workout, you could probably get away getting rid of the carb up days… thats if you want to :wink:

I still want to carbload a little. The mayne thing is that I want to gain a lot of mass without gaining fat. That have seemed to work the passed few months so hopefully it will still work like this and with carbloading a little :slight_smile:
