Ok, this might sound silly, but I do need some advice.
I know that Maximum Strength HOT-ROX has a appetite suppresent in it, and it’s obvious thermogenic effects. I happen to be on 36mg of Concerta, which if you didnt know, is the kind of medication that makes you think “pssh, eating? who does that” to say the least I hardly ever take it, esp since im wrapping up a bulking cycle. When I begin to diet down, I’ll probably end up having to do a keto diet (i have my reasons, and I don’t feel like explaining). Concerta is the ultimate appetite suppresent, but my question is, does it have any thermogenic properties? If so, im wondering if it would be neccessary to take HOT-ROX, I could just take my concerta, and also reap the added benefits of concentrating on my schoolwork as well (im in college for those who don’t know). Tampa-terry, do you have any knowledge of this?

Methylphenidate and similar compounds may have a mild yet indirect thermogenic effect, but not what I would consider what is on par with HOT-ROX. Other than that, it’s important that you use caution when using HOT-ROX and methylphenidate concurrently. In fact, I don’t recommend using them concurrently, but if one decided to do so, as I always say, start at the lowest dose possible of HOT-ROX (i.e., 1 capsule per day) and after 3-5 days, if all is well, add another capsule and so on.
Ok, I don’t know for sure, so you’ll probably want to ask your doc about this stuff, but here are my thoughts:

If you are able to concentrate and do well in school without the concerta, I would tell this to your doctor and see about not taking it, or taking a smaller dose. ADD meds are probably something you shouldn’t take unless you really need to.

On the other hand, if you DO need the concerta to do your best in school, and you’ve stopped it for a bulk, honestly, your priorities are more than a little misplaced. If you need the meds, take them, bulking or not. I have a good buddy who used to use concerta - yes it suppresses appetite, but you can force yourself to eat, and it seems the suppressant effect moderates over time.

As to your question, I’d be willing to bet concerta is in no way thermogenic. Take HOT-ROX if you really think you need a thermogenic.
Bottom line is, I would strongly suggest the decision whether or not to take your ADD meds be one ENTIRELY separate from your muscle building goals.
First, I wanted to thank you for both of your responses, esp since I wasn’t planning on hearing from the man himself.
Cy: I’ve done HOT-ROX before, and the few times I tried taking my concerta while on a HOT-ROX cycle (and im talking 6 pills a day here), I literally tried to see if I could snap my bed post. I’m not kidding. I have unusually low blood pressure, it runs in the family, so I’m not too worried about the combination, I just don’t like the way I react with it. If anything I’ll probably do what you suggest and take the lowest dosage per day and work my way up to a comfortable level.
Sniper: First off, where in VA are you from? I’m from Northern VA. Secondly, my medication and school and lifting and football is a catch 22. I Don’t need to take concerta when going to class etc… only during extended hours of work. I don’t take the concerta to help me focus, only to keep me focused. As such, even if I’m not bulking, I try not to take the concerta for it’s appetite suppresent. That being said, I do need it for when I have massive amounts of work, writing extended thesis papers, cramming all night for an exam. Would taking it daily help me in school etc… perhaps a small amoutn, but the beneifit of taking it daily isn’t so great that it’s worth not eating. The medication is Conerta XR, so it last 13 hours long. Yeah it’d be nice to be all shredded up and what not, but I play football for IU, so I can’t get to be too small. I’m changing positions, so I need to drop back down to about 200 pounds (i am currently about 222). So you see, it’s not that I put lifting and whatnot ahead of school, but the reason I go to school for free is because I play football well, and I like to think I play well because I am in shape (yes I know football skill and being in shape are two different things, but you get what I am saying), and I like to think that I am in shape because I eat well and lift correctly. That being said I am enrolled in one of the most difficult Undergrad Business programs around, the Kelley School of Business. It’s a tough balance, so what I think I am going to do is take my concerta daily, and a low dosage of HOT-ROX. Still I want to thank you for reminding me of what my priorities are and should be.
