Actually Reach a Goal...

I honestly believe that if you really want to achieve something, in relation to diet, training or life in general you will just go out and get it done.

Sitting around waiting for some external motivation from strangers on the net is just a cop out.

Congratulations with making a choice to make a positive change but just go out and start doing something now !!

Here is a good way to determine your level of motivation . . .

Go into my L.A. Fitness and start working out (like a real man). Then, after 60 minutes, if you still feel like you can lift with HIGH intensity, then you’re prolly self-motivated. Cuz lets be real, there are only a handful of people who can listen to that crap for awhile and still have an awesome workout.

As you can see, 95% of the community lifts to the tempo of the music (at a leisurely pace) and they ain’t gonna be there for the “payoff” of their hard work.

On a more serious note: I agree with everyone else . . . ya need to have the motivation from within. But reading here for a couple years and then posting this thread about motivation? Hmmmmmm . . . . . . .

i used to run mile, nothing to great i ran a 4:54. if you want to improve your time on it see if you can get pacers to run with you for a distance.

i worked with people running 1 lap paces and people doing 100 meter sprints as i did my run.

just work at keeping up with them it will help a bit with conditioning, other then that a running partner would help give you some competition and puch you to do better maybe

The only time I could see this type of thing bearing fruit is if a COMPLETE noob gets their foot in the door so to speak, catches the actual bug and then winds up changing over to a self motivated campaign. In a case like that the original reason for training becomes a sort of accidental gateway.

I first got started trying to please my then fiance (now wife) who won me a free trail membership to a Jack La Lanne. When it actually started to work despite my doing everything that I now know to be wrong, I got hooked.

However, if you’ve been toying with training and haven’t had that happen to you then no amount of external “accountability” is going to help. What does that even mean? If you don’t do it someone you’ve never met will say “hey… you’re not doing it?”
