So as we approach year-end, I have been doing the usual pondering of what I want to achieve next year. As often discussed in this log, I am a humble ActivitiesGuy with no real fitness ambition other than “be strong and fit” as well as “use working out as a means to let out some of life’s other stressors.”
I achieved my goal of a 600-pound deadlift this year. As I did so, my body weight crept upwards into the high 220’s. While I am not terribly displeased with my current physique, I certainly would like to be somewhat leaner, and thus my 2018 goal will be to match and exceed that 600-pound deadlift at a lighter body weight, somewhere around 215.
In the past, my approach to leaning down has always involved increased training volume and being hungry a lot. At this time, for various personal reasons, that would prove difficult, so my intent is to run an old favorite - the Daily Dose Deadlift program - supplemented with one day of squats and one day of running or yoga per week.

Over the next two weeks, we will be doing some traveling for the holidays and whatnot, so I will begin this in earnest on January 8.
I suppose the declared target will be to pull north of 600 pounds at a body weight under 215 pounds by July 1.
Merry christmas!!
