That’s a seriously well-rounded background. Going from endurance to strongman to general strength is pretty cool, and aiming for 405/585 before 40 sounds very doable.

It’s indeed been quite a journey! And I’ve genuinely enjoyed each different phase - I still miss running races sometimes. I have also taken my kids to a rock climbing gym a few times (they’re a little too young to do it really well yet though) and honestly in a different phase of life could easily see myself with that as a main fitness hobby. People should try a bunch of stuff and see what they like!

Two weeks in and Daily Dose Deadlift is feeling good, think I’ll try to run this all the way to my mid-May trip (five more weeks if I have counted correctly). Monday through Thursday will be 3 light singles at 315, or maybe a slight increase in a few weeks. Friday will be the “heavy” day where I’ll go to 405 and beyond for a couple of singles. Saturday will be for heavy kettlebell press and a strongman event (sandbag carries, farmer’s walks, something that gets me moving a little).

So I decided to buy myself three pairs of Rogue’s “Gorilla” Bumpers which are 65 pounds apiece, because honestly - while I love deadlifting, I hate having to change plates, and am strong enough to make bigger jumps. This will allow me to go 175 - 305 - 435 with minimal stopping to load more plates (or on my lighter Daily Dose days, I can easily go 175 - 305 - whatever working weight). Loved these from my first pull.

First time using all six Gorilla bumpers. Love being able to speed through the warmups and jump 175 to 305 to 435. This will make it much easier to do some heavy deadlift workouts in short time (I’m often trying to fit workouts into 15-20ish minute time slots).

Just a few workouts in and I already can’t express how much I like pulling with these Gorilla plates lol. Obviously not ideal if you need to train on meet-style equipment but if you’re like me - deadlift in the 400-500’s and with limited time to train, by yourself, hate needing to load up lots of plates - this is just awesome. Being able to do a couple quick warmups with 175 and then jump to 305 or more for working sets by adding just one more plate per side is so great.
