So this was sort of a “dress rehearsal” if you will. I’m planning to do a simulated-meet 1RM deadlift on 12/31 so today I did the full warmup routine (I actually did ten singles at 315 before the one at 405, really wanted to feel good and warm) and then the “first attempt” at 405, the “second attempt” at 440 and simply repeated 440 for what would have been the “third” attempt. Next week I’ll make a judgement after the 440 of what I want to take for a third attempt. In theory, I’d love to take 500, but based on how 440 felt today that may be optimistic. I’m very happy to be squatting and pulling at all after my back troubles earlier in the year, and have gotten a bit more cautious for the sake of longevity, so I think 475 is a more likely target; that will still be a nice pull considering the back troubles, switch to sumo stance and significantly leaner physique than I had when I was last pulling heavier than this. 500 will still be there next year!
