Keeping with the “light weights for a week or two while I adapt to a more varied routine” theme. Also may be good because while I keep volume low, I’ve been lifting heavy for years without ever really taking a true “deload” for more than a few days, so maybe the reset will have some extra benefits.

Done as a superset. I may leave 335 loaded on the deadlift bar and toss in five or six daily singles with my more varied routine to keep the spirit of “daily dose” so I’m always primed for a big pull.

OK, after a week of tinkering a bit with the movements and seeing how I feel, here’s what I think I’ll go with (subject to more changes based on my body’s feedback of course…) for my “leaning out with Strongman movements & a dash of Daily Dose Deadlift” template:
M: Sandbag + Deadlift 5x1x335
T: Front Squat
W: Kettlebell + Deadlift 5x1x335
R: Axle Press + Deadlift 5x1x335
F: Farmer Walk + Deadlift 5x1x335
S: Back Squat
S: Deadlift (Heavy-Ish)

Light pulls today because of a bit of a schedule flip. My wife wants to lift tomorrow and we usually do squats together so I just did my daily dose of pulls after mowing the grass. I’ll hit my squats tomorrow. Planning on some light 5’s.

Why wasn’t I doing sandbag cleans again? I love these. Super fun and a great deadlift “assistance” movement. Hit me in the head next time I stop doing them.

Alternating sets. Body seems to be responding well to the lighter-weights, move-a-bit-more strategy. Weighed in at 238.0 this morning, so I am down 20 pounds from Feb 4 when I first weighed myself. Continuing to tinker a bit with different exercise choices. I want to have sandbag in twice a week; definitely want to keep a farmer’s walk day; definitely want to keep an axle press day; and will probably keep doing the “daily dose” of 5 deadlift singles at 335 on most of those days. To fill in the gaps, I think a back squat 5’s day on Saturday and a heavy deadlift on Sunday will round things out nicely.
