…is it not very common? Or is it common in a couple of states? The reason why i ask is that it breeds a certain mindset. And since the US is still a force to reckon with, it’s worrying that the next generation of american citizens is weakened like that…
What evidence on it’s commonness do you have, a single video on youtube? I found one of a black lady sitting on a toilet, singing “Sittin’ on a toilet” Does that mean that all black women sit on toilets and sing about it?
There are kooks everywhere, the number of fundamentalist extreme Christians are few. If you have evidence to the contrary, please bring it forward.
Wow, 6 links and not one of them prove your point about fundamentalism as being the pervasive thought of 2.1 billion Christians. You really got to do better than that.
Why the jihad on Christianity anyway? If you are going to declare war on it, it would help to know something about it, which clearly you do not.

…i didn’t expect you to accept those links a proof of anything pat, but let’s say i post 5 or 6 links like that every week? Would you even mind if your country became a fundamentally christian nation?
Are you trying to prove that atheism is a mind set practiced by a minority of the world even where it is enforced at the end of a gun?
Ok.
…just to literally give you an idea where i’m coming from. That little shitstain of a country opposite the UK. You better put your glasses on, you might not see it otherwise…

I know where Holland is, I almost got to work there, but right before my transition to the Netherlands they decided to stick it to me and not pay me for the trip. So I came home instead.

Theres 300 million people here. We have all kinds. If people want to be fundamentalist Christians, they are free to do so and no I don’t care. I don’t give a crap if my neighbor smokes crack or is a fundamentalist Christian.
The U.S. is fundamentally secular, period. The fundamentalists and sprinkled through out the deep south and parts of the mid west. If these people want to practice their faith and believe in creationism, burning goat or what ever, it’s their right as we have both freedom of religion and speech. I rather the populous be fundamentalist Christian, rather than be gang members. There’s plenty worse out in the world than fundamentalist Christians. They may be a little nuts, but they cause me no fear, pain or anxiety, so why would I care?
We are in no danger of having a theocracy here, but if we were I would be hell bent against it, if that is what you are asking.
Hey Pat I know this isn’t addressed to me but with this being a message board and all I hope you don’t mind me chiming in.

If your attitude is that you don’t care who does what you may want to rethink that. Do you want to live in a place where animals are tortured and children are raped? No of course not. What other people do matters a great deal because eventually, at some point in time, it WILL have an effect on your life one way or the other.
Most people in the US still define themselves as Christians and moreover about 85% proclaim that they believe in God.
About 20% of the nation define themselves as “fundamentalists”. They live in every state in the union.
True we still have freedom of speech. But I do think that political correctness has cut into that and will continue to chip away at it until the free speech is so damaged that in reality it will no longer exist.
The ultra left cares because they basically deny the existence of God and anything that comes from God or pays homage to God is to be destroyed. I think that their worship of atheism is far more dangerous than fundamentalist Christians. Some of the nastiest, darkest, meanest posts that I’ve ever read on this site have been written by atheists who seem hell bent (pun intended) on making you think the way they do. I’d call that fundamentalism at its worst.

Child rape? Come on. That is not liberty, that’s criminal activity with victims. Not what I am talking about. I am talking about privacy and liberty. If my neighbor smokes crack, I don’t care. If he smokes crack in my yard or around my kids, I care a lot. If my neighbor is a bible thumper, I don’t care. If he thumps it in my face, I have a problem with that.
If my neighbor is a child rapist, I want to kill him with my bare hands.

Actually, it’s just under 80% and we’re talking about religious nuts, which I can assure 85% of the population is not.

I don’t know about the ultra left being militant atheists, some are others just want a and out. But there seem to be many athiests who are instant that you believe as they or your an idiot.

…that’s a pity, pat…
Do you really think it would change my mind? Give me the 30 second version, what are they saying. I don’t have a hour to spend on something somebody on the internet wants me to do.
Wow. Just wow.
How about you give me a convincing 20 second version of why God exists. Go on, I’m waiting.

Atheism is a belief that there is no God. You can believe in God and still have an absence of religious belief. If you take a stance on an issue, or answer a question, you have made a decision, taken a stance, or expressed a belief whether that be a affirmation or a denunciation.
“If you choose not do decide, you still have made a choice.” ~ Neil Peart who is an athiest, BTW.
Can you not read or something? Or do you like arguing semantics?
