Ephrem, you can ‘get away’ with making fun of Christianity and Judaism, but Islam/Muslims?
You’re a brave, brave man ;)
Why? They are all equally invalid. And the chances of some retard following the death cult that is Islam reading this board, tracing an IP address and taking retribution in the hopes of making it with 72 virgins is relatively slim.
…the absence of a belief is still a belief? Do you want to be taken seriously at all?
There is no such thing as the absence of belief. You believe something to be true, hence, in your case atheism. That is a belief, not the absence of one.
Yes really. What problems has it solved where others did not crop up? Just one example.
Whose buying into an imaginary entity? I thought we were past this point but I suppose you prefer regression over logical arguments? Again, you can’t say something you’ve never tried hasn’t ever helped you. Well, fucking duh. I have never tried yoga so it hasn’t helped me one bit, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work.
…i’d think that the advances made in medicine are important, don’t you? Personally, i can’t wait to see what kind of electronics the near future has in store for us. Will we complicate things? Ofcourse, that’s a given, we’re human after all. But that shouldn’t deter us from delving deeper in to the fabric of time and space, uncovering it’s secrets along the way. Religion has invalidated itself in that regard…
Sure. Medicine is fine, but with every advancement there is more to discover and do. What’s your point? How does advances in medicine debunk the fact that advances in creates even more unknowns and more questions. Certainly, this is true in medicine as well. To say it’s not would be dishonest or stupid.
And where do you get this notion that because science is incapable of answering all questions, is contradictory in fact and theory, that I therefore think it should not be pursued? Don’t project your biases on me. They are your problem, not mine.
So you are join the Carl Marx in this whining that ‘religion is the opiate of the masses’? Don’t repeat yourself, based on what, specifically, do you draw this conclusion?
Seems atheists take the easy way out, if you cannot detect it with your 5 sense, it does not exist, but that is a childish view of reality.

It’s not very common so what’s your point? There have been many bat shit crazy athiests in the world. Do they reflect you?
What the hell do you care what people discuss in there own homes?

…i don’t mind repeating myself pat, but in my case atheism really does mean “the absence of religious beliefs”. IOW, i don’t believe atheism is true because, in my case, atheism does not refer to ‘something’ but to the lack of ‘something’…

…is it not very common? Or is it common in a couple of states? The reason why i ask is that it breeds a certain mindset. And since the US is still a force to reckon with, it’s worrying that the next generation of american citizens is weakened like that…

Do you really think it would change my mind? Give me the 30 second version, what are they saying. I don’t have a hour to spend on something somebody on the internet wants me to do.

I would say the by the sheer number of posts, it’s a topic ephrem cares very deeply about, wouldn’t you? Otherwise, why discuss it. I could give a fuck about stamps and hence wouldn’t lift a finger to compare and contrast the pro’s and cons. If you don’t care, why do you discuss it.

Atheism is a belief that there is no God. You can believe in God and still have an absence of religious belief. If you take a stance on an issue, or answer a question, you have made a decision, taken a stance, or expressed a belief whether that be a affirmation or a denunciation.
“If you choose not do decide, you still have made a choice.” ~ Neil Peart who is an athiest, BTW.

What evidence on it’s commonness do you have, a single video on youtube? I found one of a black lady sitting on a toilet, singing “Sittin’ on a toilet” Does that mean that all black women sit on toilets and sing about it?
There are kooks everywhere, the number of fundamentalist extreme Christians are few. If you have evidence to the contrary, please bring it forward.

…no, it won’t change your mind. I didn’t post it so you could change your mind. I posted it because i found it interesting, that’s all…

Run Pat, watch out!! Ephrem found some web sites. I need to buy a gun because those crazies are going to overtake this country with their radical fundamental ideals. Why do you think those people made headlines? Because they are COMMON? facepalm
Watch out, E will pout like a child as he looses an argument. He has not posted anything new about abortion, yet he has here. Weird I tell you, WeIrD!
