I’m just arguing for the sake of it, but Bonds was working with doctors, so he had the scrips.

I agree with you, that because someone else is doing it doesn’t mean that you should. I am just saying that he was getting his hits off of players whose performances were being altered by steroid use as well.

As I said before, I am against steroid use in sports, but can clearly see how the pressures of the sport, the fans, the league, and the money could have made doing so logical.
Complete BS. He was using illegally. The baseball official drug policy at the time was “players must comply with all federal and state drug laws”.

What he and the others did was 100% absolutely against the rules. It was cheating. Trying to sell it was anything different is retarded.

But like I said, the pussies lied about it over and over and continue to lie and blame others.
If it was truly illegal at the time than I retract what I said previously, I was just under the impression that there was some “gray area” during the beginning of the era.

Do you think there is a direct correlation between the pitching performances that we have seen this year and the elimination of PEDs from the game? I think it seems like a pretty clear connection.
No doubt.

Jun. 7, 1991 â?? Commissioner Fay Vincent Issues Memo Regarding Steroid Use
After the U.S. Congress raises penalties for steroid possession, Commissioner Fay Vincent sends a memo to each team indicating that steroids would be added to Major League Baseballâ??s banned list. The memo stated: “The possession, sale or use of any illegal drug or controlled substance by Major League players or personnel is strictly prohibited … This prohibition applies to all illegal drugs … including steroids.”

Yeah I can agree with the pressure of the sport part but that doesnt make it right.

Also not every pitcher in MLB was on something but he was. I would bet less than half of the pitchers ARod faced were on something so he definitely had an advantage… But I know what you mean when you said you’re arguing for the sake of it.

If bonds really did have prescriptions he would have produced them during the trial and said “yeah I was on something and this is what it was. It was prescribed by a doctor for whatever reason” and it wouldnt be a big issue.

Yeah I definitely think the stricter testing has a lot to do with the rise of pitching. Also it could have to do with there just being some really great young pitchers on the come up.

But yeah I think the crackdown on PEDs are hurting batters stats

In the end I do agree that it was wrong, it shouldn’t have been a part of the game, and I am glad to see that it has been dealt with.

I guess I am just trying to defend Bonds because I was such a big fan, but he did cheat, he put a blemish on the game, and set a very bad example.

Hopefully the Giants can pick up a big bat sometime soon so I can leave Bonds in the past.

Bro I feel the same way. HUGE Bonds fan and I can’t tell you how many times watching him hit bombs and hit 70+ HR’s was bitter sweet as a Giants fan. I still know he cheated and impacted the game negatively and set a bad example, but for some reason in my mind I justify it because he was always the heart of the giants power when I was growing up. Too many good memories to count.

I understand being a huge fan of Bonds as a player, but not only did he cheat, he was always a complete jackass to everyone around him, including the fans. Why the Giants fans haven’t turned on him is beyond me considering what an egocentric, narcissistic prick he was.

oooo no doubt bro, he was a total prick, and most of his team mates did NOT like him, just respected him. We haven’t turned on him because we don’t like him as a person, we like him for the player he was. The excitement he brought to fans kinda outweighs how much of a dick he was. He kind of lightened up towards the end of his career which also made some sympathize with him. I mean unless you’ve met the guy in person, it’s kind of hard to hate him for being a prick because it could all just be hearsay (though it wasnt). But I don’t think enough fans saw that part of him. Especially giants fans
