A Question About Alleged Natural Contests

I love that movie. Picked it up with another couple of 80s classics for a few bucks when the wiz went out of business -lol

Doesn’t get nearly enough love. If you were a wrestler, it was YOUR ā€œRockyā€. And every guy after that wanted a climbing peg board, haha.

It was awesome how many specialty Rocky movies for every kind of Scrappy Underdog there were in the 80s. Rad for bmx’ers, Winners Take All for dirt bikes, Best of the Best for TKD, Roadhouse for bouncers, and on and on.

I still haven’t seen that. I’ve seen a couple of clips now, but not the actual movie.

The 80’s were a magic era for meathead inspirational movies (and soundtracks)

Back to the topic of natty guns, lifting and shows. @unreal24278 @The_Mighty_Stu
I found a pic of my arms likely at their biggest three-plus years ago. I think they were over 17 here, but not much over.

Yeah, brick is pretty self depreciating, but he had some damn good arms. On any one of average height, anything over 16, 16 1/2 lean let alone in contest shape is damn good!

The biggest mine were off-season was 18ā€ā€¦

In contest shape though, I was about 17 1/2, but like I always point out, my arms were a definite strong point for me.

My biggest arms were 15… they don’t grow, this was at a BW of 165, around 15% BF and a height of 55, chest was about 46, neck was 18-19 (huge neck) etc… my arms don’t fucking grow. I’m smaller now (behaved like an absolute idiot in Europe… came back here, got injured almost immediately, now I have the flu)

Interestingly given my small frame (6.2 inch wrists) 15 inch arms didn’t look all that bad

But compared to my chest, back etc they were disproportionately small. Being a professional bodybuilder do you have any tips for when I can really get back into training?

you were seventeen years old? Or are you referring to arm size. Id’ve pegged you to be in you’re mid twenties here

You’ve also got the problem with hair on you’re shoulders and arms (though I have it worse).

Do you notice people make nasty comments about it? Do you shave/laser it off

That was shortly after shaving it. I am VERY hairy! My wife shaves my bod. If I let my body hair grow out fully and then it’s shaved, there is a pretty hefty pile left. I bet you I’m hairier than you. Lol.

No one has ever said anything nasty.

I don’t think you could possibly be hairier than I am… I can’t exactly take a pic as I don’t have a camera to use as I’ve specified… but I’ve got hair on my

  • forearms (inner and outer)
  • hands
  • fingers (only a few though)
  • shoulders (curly)
  • biceps/triceps
  • stomach (a thick line going all the way up to my chest and hair coats the rest of my stomach)
  • chest
  • back
  • neck
  • legs
  • toes
  • feet

It’s not just a few hairs either… it’s fucking everywhere. I keep the hair trimmed/shaved now to avoid comments being made

I’ve been picked on quite a bit for it… some of the girls within my cohort (before I graduated) have made some very nasty comments. I’ve gotten a few nasty comments from randoms when out in public (it’s genetic, my father is also very hairy)… There’s a family friend that works within a laser hair removal clinic who said I should get some hair taken off… but I can’t afford it

I took it in my stride and made out like I didn’t care… but it hurt… they made me feel as if I was repulsive over something I couldn’t control. I hope in college they’ll be slightly more mature

I CAN grow a beard if I don’t shave, but I’ve never gotten past the initial stages as I don’t like the initial messy look, so I keep it trimmed down to a 1-2cm length

Think he’s referring to arm size, in inches.

Lol yeah, I was using the auto dictate on my phone, so I didn’t explicitly say inches.

I was probably mid-late 30’s in the off season pic and 38 in the prep one (pretty sure that was the year I did the America and the Hercules shows)

Lean 17-18 inch arms natty ain’t no joke. I think the genetics to do that aren’t common to the average gym rat but obviously they do exist. Also probably depends on the frame of the person. Short arms (such as mine) get really large with little muscle.

Me and my brother in law are kind Of opposites. I’m 5 8 he’s 6 1 I’m short limbed compact and his wing span is greater than his height. We joke cause I’m obviously more muscular than him(I should be I’ve been training a lot longer and I can move a lot more weight than him) but put what I have on his arms and he’d probably just look toned a little but still not big.

My right arm measures 17 1/4 and left 17 last time I measured but I’m not lean right now. I got at least another 20lbs to go and I’m currently down almost 30.

It’s truly amazing how easy it is to under shoot how much you need to lose to look decent. I figured I’d be happy losing from 230 to 200 now that I’m here I’m obviously in better health and happier but I still got more to go. My goal was just 12-13% bf and I never thought I was 50 lbs away from that when I started dieting. You guys find this to be the issue with clients you coach?

Sorry I started rambling…

Were?

Dude, you’re 19. You have many years and thousands of reps before you can start speaking in past tense and say things like ā€œmy arms don’t growā€. :joy:

They don’t grow as quick as the rest of my body does… lets put it that way. What’s the point of attacking me here?

They were 15, I’ve currently got the flu (not eating at all), prior to that got injured… they’re like 14.5 now, they’ll regain initial size quickly though

Remember I’m slightly under 5’5 (or 5’5 at a push)

My other stats were fine, my arms lag behind

Well I’m almost 30 and they are barely 16" when I’m lean so I guess it’s time I accept I have shitty genetics or that I’ll never know how to train properly

That’s not an attack. That’s actually encouragement. You literally have decades, like 2 of them of Good lifting in you, followed by at least a couple more that are also just dandy.

It’s perspective. I waited till about 40 before saying ā€œAh, maybe I’m not cut out to be like, a mass monster. Maybe 170 or so is about as far as I’m going.ā€.

So by my math you have about 20 some years.
