A New Pandemic

Well folks I’m eally starting to worry about our nation. For some reason Europe and Asia seem to be able to do the right thing by checking people at the airport before they come into the country, but not here. No, instead of shutting down the border with Mexico where the flu has suppossed to come from we still have an open border. Why?I thought all the illegal guns from the US were winding up down there, right? In return they send there poor and uneducated, and sick up here.Wouldnt shutting the border make sense? [/quote]

We won’t let a crisis go to waste. Especially if we can passively allow it to be worse, then blame it on the Bush administration for not emplacing safeguards to deal with it. Then it will be obvious to everyone we need the federal government to take over healthcare to ensure this will not happen again.

And by the way, my son attends the high school the 3 positive cases were from here in Texas.

Military docs on Randolph were the ones to pick up on it and diagnose the first 2.

lol! yep.

Of course, just to put this whole scary “pandemic” into perspective, every year about 36,000 people die of ordinary garden-variety non-avian or swine flu.

So far under 100 people have died. All of them in Mexico. Presumably all from the same strain of flu, but I don’t think it’s been confirmed.

So I think I’ll wait a bit longer before getting too scared.

I will, however, keep exercising, eating right, getting enough sleep, and washing my hands before I eat. Haven’t had the flu in over fifteen years, and have never had a flu shot in my life.

And I certainly never wore one of those ridiculous little surgical masks, even when I was riding the fucking cheek-by-jowl Tokyo subway every day during the worst flu seasons of the year.

If this does develop into a global pandemic, and I continue to not get sick, then I suppose I’ll change my screen name to Stu Redman.

Boulder, Colorado is nice, I suppose (although Colorado Springs would be better, so we could still get our Biotest supps), but this time I think we should head up to Missoula, Montana. Better fishin’ and huntin’ up there.

Randall and his motley crew can have Vegas, as long as they stay the fuck in Vegas.

I’ll meet you there brother.

I’ll bring the whiskey.

I was under the inpression you were from Alaska. I’ll be up their in a few months. Are you a soldier too?

does this mean I have to send Roxy my sweet piggy back to the animal farm? I’ll really miss her cute little squeals.

CRASH!!

(picks stunned self up of the ground and reminds himself not to call his lady a pig when she’s looking over his shoulder)

All seriousness aside - The last time we had a flu scare was when Carter took over the presidency. I’m sensing another liberal conspiracy here . . .

J, sent you a pm. PCSd to San Antonio a while back.

Deal.

I don’t have to tell you which brand.

Schools have now been closed for 2 weeks. They have shut down the metro-bus service. And I am starting to see more and more people with the face masks on. My city has actually sold out of those facemasks.

The fun thing with the masks is that most people are not putting them on tightly and they seem to take them off to talk to each other which kind of defeats the object I would have thought.

My company is carrying on as usual though we are prepping for higher than usual absences.

Most people I have spoken to either think it is a total over-reaction or that we are all doomed. I seem to be the only one in the middle, thinking that the precautions might just help control the spread.

So far from official sources there have only been 20 confirmed deaths from so called Swine Flu and the number of suspected infections dropped significantly overnight.

It’s time for Nasty Pelosi to go to Mexico.

Does anyone else find it a bit odd that this “pandemic” should coincide so closely with both growing political tension with Mexico, AND Obama’s renewed push for nationalized health care?

For those that are panicking;

The 1918 pandemic lasted, judiciously, 850 days. The total death toll was, conservatively, 20 million. For those that can’t do the math, that’s almost 24,000 people a day almost a decade before Lindberg crossed the Atlantic.

There won’t be any overreacting when the new pandemic hits. There will be reacting or dead.

Yeah because we need to have a North American Union healthcae system. All we gotta do is print more money to fund it.It’ll work great!! Besides, I don’t want some gringo doctor messin with me.

Don’t worry, the government will give us our mandatory flu vaccinations, and all will be well.

Gerald Ford, not Carter.

Also look at where all the deaths are, downtown Mexico City. I’d bet that they were dosed with a killer strain very selectively.

So far only one US death and it was a little kid. Another big concentration is in Queens NYC, particularly one school with 83 cases or more by now. A very visible metropolitan area, enough to get attention with a lesser strain and not in Manhattan where it could have a huge financial impact.

BG

It seems that today a sack of rice in China cannot tip over without having the worldwideloonybin brooding over various conspiracies.

And Ishtar forbid it’s a potential pandemic.

Dudes, this happens, deal with it! I would even be so brash as to suggest that in the next 50 years, there will probably be a big earthquake in North America.
And it won’t be caused by the hidden south pole nazis. Trust me. This happens.

And it coincided with Obama’s visit there.
