Those tripods. I wonder how many IG videos I’ve wound up in.

I’m one of the oldest guys at the gym at any time. I’d say about a third or more of the members, women and men, are decked in Darc Sport gear.

Lol at broccoli cut. My friend used to call it Chernobyl over twenty years ago.

I don’t even know what this is. Is it like Gym Shark for older folks?

Gym gear brand for younger crowd.

For some reason Tripods always bother me when I see them at the gym. In the back on my mind I’m like “Must you film everything?!?”

I also think about how people on these forums like to film stuff yet that never bothers me :joy:

But, when it’s a zoomer at the gym, it bothers me. I must be crazy or something .

The people on this forum have reason to film what they do because they are outliers in strength, physique, knowledge or some other capacity. Simply put: the recording of their workout has inherent value.

Zoomers filming often haven’t gotten out of the ‘bro’ stage where they’re still having 4 of their buddies gangbang 1 tub of pre workout, and you wouldn’t be able to tell they lift in street clothes. Their filming isn’t to help others - it’s to stroke their own ego… they have no beneficial reason to film what they do.

At least, that’s why it bothers me anyways.

To be fair, most zoomers I’ve seen on social media seem to be freakishly strong. Stronger than most grown adults as well.

Someone could learn something from them too as well. They probably played sports majority of their life or juicing.

But, yes the ego is rather annoying.

Plaid pajama bottoms.

And are all the bro hugs necessary?

They are not platonic hugs… not sure if that clears things up for you or not

Many, many years ago I was in a very no-nonsense gym in Tehran (weightlifting is a national sport in Iran, second only to soccer and the place was filled with power racks and olympic platforms) and everyone was extremely friendly and supportive.

After a while I noticed that there’s a somewhat weird underlying vibe with some of the patrons - 300-400 pound dudes who were never off the gear (armed with the power of the Pharma sub forum lurker, I asked them about off cycles and they stared at me blankly). Each of these massive (and fat) guys had a “fan” or two - scrawny, small dudes with impeccable hair and fancy clothes who just hung around in the gym taking selfies, occasionally “spotting” their guy or giving him a back rub.

One time I was finishing my workout just before closing time and one of the big guys, again super friendly, asked me about my marital status, life as an infidel and more importantly, my personal opinion whether having intercourse with one’s wife (or wives) is a husband’s duty or something more - enjoyment.

When I diplomatically explained that I’m in the “enjoyment” camp when it came to having intercourse with women in general, I was very, very kindly asked to please, please if possible avoid the gym around closing time and especially the locker rooms.

I wholeheartedly obliged.

Curious as i know nothing of iran or the culture… can you expand on “why”?

I wrote about this ten years ago (?) on the forum, apparently they have the Ancient Roman / ancient Persian definition of being gay (and modern Russian if we’re at it).

Or to put it more bluntly - “you’re not gay, it’s the dude you’re banging that is gay because he’s letting you bang him”

Iranian culture is beautiful :joy:
Thanks for explaining. Suddenly I feel like a lot more of the middle east makes sense now.

I’ve heard a similar explanation from some very generous older guys.

Still can’t reconcile that.
