A man is not a man until he can bench 2 plates

Theo Von is rumored (maybe confirmed?) to be in GTA6. As someone who grew up listening to talk radio, I find driving around the map listening for hours cathartic. With occasional police chase of course.

No, not 225, this makes one a MAN-

Sure, but if you bring up my wife or marriage in a negative context again - that’ll be the end of my forgiveness.

Yeah, me too

Fair.

For what it is worth, I get frustrated trying to share what I perceive as knowledge/wisdom with someone that I feel can benefit. I would not get angry if I didn’t care. It is a weird paradigm.

FWIW, I have a degree in Speech Communication, a teaching credential, an MA in English, an MFA if Creative Writing, and at 61 on Friday, still have student loan debt despite teaching in a public school system for thirty years.

I always think I am the smartest man in the room - which is surely a sign that I am in the wrong room.

Peace.

Late to the party, but it is clear to me with all my years of experience that what truly makes a man is exactly equal to whatever I am currently able to lift. And anyone lifting more is probably very fat and/or on drugs.

A 61 year old school teacher with college debt.

This might explain the toxicity type name calls.

Just a hunch………

Round Table Pizza, that is a blast from the past!

A few. Its way easier to lift a lot relative to bodyweight when lean. The heavier a person, the less relative to their bodyweight they can lift. Look at those scrawny guys who can bust out 30 pullups. A strongman or powerlifter could manage a few maybe.

Remaining lean after 50 is impossible without Mike O’Hearn 'special supplements '.

The Shwartz/Malone Formula for calculating Best Lifter in a Powerlifting meet pretty much makes that apparent.

On this topic I feel we will have to agree to disagree.

Or we can just agree as a collective that the statement is just false.

6 ft 180 lb and I can throw up to 225, np

I don’t think lifters who are ripped are at a disadvantage. I have found that lifters who think that tend to be a little overweight and a little jealous. So instead of trying they just poo poo it away. ā€œThat guy’s not doing it right. Who cares how great he looks and how strong he is and how athletic he is and how much endurance he has; he’s still not doing it rightā€

Having competed in strongman ripped and non-ripped, my experience does not match your own.

Undeniably true, look at this scrawny little dude busting out pull ups

Granted that is a very impressive feat for a man his size. I don’t want to minimize his strength. But…

That was far short of a pullup. He had the momentum to easily do a muscle up. With a little swing he could do a kip up with straight arms.

There was a guy at our gym who had played safety for UGA who could do 100 of those ā€œpullups.ā€ And it was truly impressive to see.
