I agree with the OP, with one caveat: I think it is acceptable to leave one 45 on each side of a bar on the deadlift platform. Opinions?

This one’s easy…just ask him if he thinks he’s the fucking easter bunny hiding dumbbells instead of eggs. IF he persists, buy him some of those rabbit ears that morons strap on their heads around Easter and keep trying to give them to him.
LMAO

Why is it that every time this subject comes up there is always one poster who believes his reasoning for not re-racking the weights trumps common courtesy?
I like to warm up with the bar.

I would say it depeneds on where you work out, Where I work out everyone who uses free weights warms up with 135 on all lifts, so we leave one set of 45s on the bar and its fine. Other places people like to warm up with the bar and it’s considered an assholish thing to do.

I’m partial to that idea, but I also like to load 25’s on and start from a deficit. I guess leaving it empty in a public gym would be the most curteous.

you guys are clearly gay.
i warm up with 300 kgs.
I curl 300kgs, faggot
This thread was gold. Special thanks to Zap branigan, Dickbag, and sen say for being hilarious.
Other than that, I don’t think the OP did anything wrong for confronting the dude, but I wouldn’t have. Call me a bitch if you want, but I prefer to pick my battles.
And, I too, have seen a dude squat 500 and not rerack it. He even had the 2.5’s on the side.

I am not gay. I just like to bend over in front of other men, grab a big steel bar, flex my glutes and grunt.
Whats so gay about that?

I don’t know anyone at my gym that warms up with less than 135. To me it is common courtesy.

I would hate to re-rack those.

Sure, its a good thing to speak up when you see something which is wrong.
But you could have asked the dickhead nicely:
“Could you help me take these plates off?”
I’m sure he would have helped you.
You can always ask nicely. You do not have to be agressive when someone wrongs you. Agression is rarely helpful.
That said you didn’t actually want any plates taken off?! WTF are you bitching about?
you shouldnt have to ask to have people remove plates after they are done, they should just do it.

I call it “respect”.
Respect for other people training around you. Guy who can or cannot lift your weight… you don’t know… so… I think it is a sign of respect to rack the weight when you don’t need them more.
I totally understand the O.P’s frustration. Sounds to me like he gets as mad at people who don’t put away the weights as I do at people who drive to close behind me. Anyhoo… anybody who goes to a gym to workout and is to lazy to put away their weights will clearly make no progress.

i always leave the 2 45s on the barbell after deads or racks.i think its a pain in the ass to put them on and take them off.
