To actually answer the question YOU asked, as opposed to making up another question and answering it, the weight you should be aiming for is 50kg in each hand, or 100kg across your back for a ten step walking lunge. (5 steps each leg) If you can do that, I can’t see how your legs could NOT be in great shape, and decently “big”. I personally prefer the barbell method.
As far as acheiving that, you just have to keep getting progressively heavier until you’re there. Squats + lunges will do it. Be very careful with your balance.
