A Game of Thrones (Trailer)

Thanks guys, niuce support group here!

I guess her main function at this point is to introduce (healthy) suspicion of the Queen and Jamie. And i’ll find out about the Eyrie, later.

Me and my girl wanted to watch it ALL after the first episode. I want it all now. 10 series’ worth, or whatever.

^ Okay okay but what about the T&A I had brought this up a few pages back it has been a couple of years since I read the first one and I cant remember this much. Not that I am complaining.

I also didnt remember the opening scene, I am normally pretty good about remembering story lines. I just do not remember that part.
The scene where Bran sees Jamie and Cercei having sex is not overly graphic in the book, as it’s told from Bran’s POV and he doesn’t understand much of what’s going on. If I recall.

The scene where Viserys inspects Dany is pretty much dead on, as is the part where he tells her he’d let Drogo’s entire army (horses included) fuck her if it meant he’d get a crown.

I don’t recall there being as much sex at the wedding of Dany and Drogo, but I’d not doubt it. I do remember there being a lot of violence though.

As for Dany and Drogo’s pairing on their wedding night, seems about right. In the book, he was a bit more tender with her and won her over, and while she was still scared and in pain (probably quite a bit, dude was a beast), she did start to get into it at the end.

I don’t recall any scene with Tyrion and whores that early in the book, my guess it was just added to establish both Tyrion as a character and his relationship with Jamie.
Okay I am not losing it cause this is exactly the way I remembered the first book also and the detail about Tyrion also.
I also do not remember the detail about the “Others” that early on more of an implied “monster” while this was full out showing them.

I have never read the books (usually books are better than tv IME, i’m dreading the 'On The Road movie with the girl out of Twilight in it) but watched Game of Thrones.

It is SICK.

So funny that they have cast Sean Bean, the stereotypical Northern Bastid as the ‘King(/lord) of the North!’

For anyone who knows, I have 1 question:
Sean Bean’s wife, who seemingly was originally Southern, we haven’t met her sister yet right? The one who sent the note, was married to John Arran. She’s just been alluded to? Because if we have met her already, I missed it…
Cat’s sister (Lysa) hasn’t been seen yet. She sent a letter to Cat and Ned saying that she suspected the Lannisters of poisoning Jon Arryn, and she has fled to the Eyrie. In the coming attractions, there was a half second clip of her and Little Lord Robert looking down from the seat of the Eyrie at Cat and Tyrion.

I assume episode 2 or 3.

Look forward to the scene with Tyroin in the cell, my inner vision of this was a very scary type cell.

The others are seen in the prologue of the book. Their description from the book, though, is somewhat different. Its actually the only real complaint I have from the first episode. They really just look like straight up grey mummies… I was expecting something more slender and creepy… almost alien, right? Also… for anyone who is unaware A Dance With Dragons is out July 12th. That is, if GRRM can actually finish it.

Finished and in the editing process.

I second these books, though they’re definitely lighter reading than most other suggestions in this thread. They’re just pleasant reads that don’t require a lot of thought, they’re each centered around a small group of central characters.

If you like ^^those books, you’ll probably like the whole Drizzt Chronicles (starting with Homeland by R.A. Salvatore)- it’s one of my favorite fantasy series.
I really enjoy Margret Weiss and Tracey Hickamn. I read them in high school and always thought that Chronicle seriesshould be made in to a movie. Both of my kids love them as well.

Damn it OP!!! why did you have to start this thread?? I was trying to avoid but I am weak. I saw this trailer on tv and wondered if it was going to be good. I come in here and find it’s an amazing book series. I have to many other things I follow like Sons of Anarchy and Sparticus. Ghrr now this is something else I am going to have to check out  I will read the books before watching the movies because 99% of the time the book is better.

Spartacus is sick too, i’m surprised it doesn’t get more love on T-Nation. 300-meets-galdiator? Why not…

They shouldn’t have fucked with GRRM’s prologue to the novel. Much creepier in my mind.

I am curious as to what someone who HASN’T read the books thinks of the pilot episode… seems like it would seem a little jumpy and rushed to those who haven’t the benefit of hundreds and hundreds of pages of written details and background.

BTdubs, the T&A really kicks off in the third or fourth novel with Cersei’s dyking out with Taena. I believe there are also many references to pubic hair (Jaime’s golden locks and the butch chick’s - Brienne? - scraggly cactus), so stay tuned for visuals.

I am also extremely hard over the showdown between Oberyn and the Mountain - one of the more memorable parts in the series in my mind. Too bad it’s a few seasons away.

Spartacus was excellent!!! The first coupole of episodes were a bit shaky but it really took off after that. Great cast, script (just love J. Hannah’s CUNT) and pace. The second season was actually better than the first as well which I didn’t expect.

Finally got around to watching GOT last night - well intrigued! I’ve never read it so it’s a refreshing view as it’s not every day a finely cast and produced fantasy program WITH T&A comes out! ^^

Sparitcus has its own thread in here I believe. It may even be longer than this one. I almost stopped watching it but once the story line developed a little I started getting addicted.

Good episode last night. They really captured Joffrey’s character pretty well.

I’m even more into Tyrion as played by Dink than I was as written by GRRM. Awesome all around.

Discuss.

I passed out in the middle of it. Wasn’t bored, just insanely tired. Will have to catch the rest on DVR tonight.

I agree that Dinklage does a great job with his character even though I didn’t read the books. Love Tyrion.

I agree. Good character. A real man, of integrity and complexity (i’m straight btw! lol)

I thought it was very fast paced. I didn’t catch everything the first time, so I watched it again. No problems after that.

I guess you could say it was jumpy, but it’s trying to do a lot in an hour. I think it worked well. Production and acting were top-notch as well. Even the kid actors were good.

I’m pretty upset about the whole killing of the wolf and hope that queen gets her teeth kicked in.

Haven’t read the books, but this thread sure cleared a few things up…

I had always pictured Sandor Clegane being a little more disfigured.

And I had forgotten what a worthless cunt Sansa is.

Potentially big spoiler/theory:

After reading the books I had the idea that Jon Snow was actually the son of Ned’s sister (cant remember her name atm) and the Targaryan prince Rhaegar and the way they showed it in the TV show last night pretty much confirmed it. You’ll notice that he never calls Jon his son, he always says “he has my blood.” (GRRM did this in the book like 20 times before I noticed it) And the way they talked about Rhaegar and Neds Sister makes me think GRRM must have told the directors so they wouldn’t contradict themselves later on in the series after GRRM reveals it. Jon is gonna ride a dragon
anonym wrote:

Same on both counts.

Sandor: I was thinking almost as bad as two-face in Dark Knight. Exposed jaw, at least.

Sansa: Yes, she’s stupid here. I’m curious as how they’re going to flesh out the character. So much over her is revealed through internal thought in her POV chapters. I imagine that they’ll have to beef up the dialogues between her and Clegane to make her growth visible.

Holy fuck. Good pick up. Makes a lot of sense, especially with Ned’s character.

I think the child actors they got are pretty stellar, and all of the actors/tresses in general actually. Can’t wait for more.
