A Game of Thrones (Trailer)

After the first episode I think it’s safe to say that Jason Momoa will make a very solid Conan. Dude looks barbaric as fuck.

He has the dialogue down also, we just need to hear him yell to make sure.

Well played sir

I was surprised we saw Daenaerys naked as she’s only 13 in the books iirc

end spoiler

Also to say Tyrion was the highlight for me.

DJHT, the books are pretty sexually explicit. What’s your opinion on them? And you’re infor a treat, A Storm of Swords is the best of the bunch.

I read the first one about 2 years ago, then went and got the next two. So while I remember almost all of the book I did not remember the so graphic T&A not that I mind. I cant remember but I started reading a few series of books and put down the second one. I tend to read very fast and get engaged (the wife hates it cause I can ignore a hurricane and have truthfully read for 14 hours straight).

I would rank these so far as my third favorite Fantasy series. LOR (all time favorite from childhood have read it at least 10 times), Steven Ericksons Mazalan series and now these. I enjoy the fact he does not stay real traditional with the Major Protagonist and Antogonist. Multiple story lines with characters that are both good and bad. I think the Imp by far is my favorite character and I applaud the choice of actor for this part.

I agree with you on Tyrion. By far the best character in my opinion. Never got into the Malazan series though I’m told from book 3 onwards it’s gold. Need a new series to keep my occupied until a dance with dragons now.

So is this season supposed to only cover one book? How could 10 hours of TV possibly short shrift a single book? Jackson did each LOR novel in 3 hours…

Sorry to all the fantasy geeks for my ignorance (I haven’t read LOR or A Song of Ice and Fire), but I spend all of my reading time these days on music books and contemporary fiction (Palahniuk, Vonnegut, Ellis, etc).

EDIT: Nevermind. I just looked at wiki and found that there are 7 books in the series. Anyone know how the HBO series is going to split it all up?

Hahahahahahaha maybe they are not doing the entire book in these 10 episodes maybe they are doing the well lets see how popular it is and then make more. Just a thought. I dont see how they can condense the 700 page book down to just 10 hours myself. But who knows will be fun to see.

After the reviews I’m going to check this out, and pick up the books. Can’t wait to get into it!

So, how is the show paced compared to the book? I got all 4 of the series on my Kindle ($30, not bad!), and I’m about 1/3 through the first one. I want to make sure I stay ahead of the show in the book before I watch any episodes on DVR.

^^ I’ve heard that the first season is the first book, so you should be OK, so long as you can read more than 3 pages a day!

I finally got around to watching it.

The thing that surprised me was how quickly they moved - I didn’t expect to see

***** SPOILERS ******

either Dany’s wedding or Bran’s fall until the second episode.

Then again, I suppose a good part of the writing is internal dialogue and description, so it’s probably paced well.

I’m excited to see the tournament.

Also, from what little I saw of the Hound, they did him pretty well. Jamie is pretty much what I expected. And Jason Mamoa as Khal Drogo is beastly. Definitely a good pic there.

The creepiness and impending madness of Viserys is palpable, nice job casting and acting.

The Imp is fantastic. Overall, this rules.

^ Okay okay but what about the T&A I had brought this up a few pages back it has been a couple of years since I read the first one and I cant remember this much. Not that I am complaining.

I also didnt remember the opening scene, I am normally pretty good about remembering story lines. I just do not remember that part.

After the airing they’ve already renewed game of thrones for a second season. Personally I hope they make all future seasons about 20 episodes each. The more time they got to work with the better

The scene where Bran sees Jamie and Cercei having sex is not overly graphic in the book, as it’s told from Bran’s POV and he doesn’t understand much of what’s going on. If I recall.

The scene where Viserys inspects Dany is pretty much dead on, as is the part where he tells her he’d let Drogo’s entire army (horses included) fuck her if it meant he’d get a crown.

I don’t recall there being as much sex at the wedding of Dany and Drogo, but I’d not doubt it. I do remember there being a lot of violence though.

As for Dany and Drogo’s pairing on their wedding night, seems about right. In the book, he was a bit more tender with her and won her over, and while she was still scared and in pain (probably quite a bit, dude was a beast), she did start to get into it at the end.

I don’t recall any scene with Tyrion and whores that early in the book, my guess it was just added to establish both Tyrion as a character and his relationship with Jamie.

I have never read the books (usually books are better than tv IME, i’m dreading the 'On The Road movie with the girl out of Twilight in it) but watched Game of Thrones.

It is SICK.

So funny that they have cast Sean Bean, the stereotypical Northern Bastid as the ‘King(/lord) of the North!’

For anyone who knows, I have 1 question:
Sean Bean’s wife, who seemingly was originally Southern, we haven’t met her sister yet right? The one who sent the note, was married to John Arran. She’s just been alluded to? Because if we have met her already, I missed it…

Unless they switch it up for the show you don’t see her for a while, she’s not a very big character in the books

^^ I haven’t seen the show but read the book and i don’t think her sister shows up that early.

Yeah when they show Johan Arryn dead on that slab it’s the Queen and Jamie talking. Never saw Cat’s sister.

Cat’s sister (Lysa) hasn’t been seen yet. She sent a letter to Cat and Ned saying that she suspected the Lannisters of poisoning Jon Arryn, and she has fled to the Eyrie. In the coming attractions, there was a half second clip of her and Little Lord Robert looking down from the seat of the Eyrie at Cat and Tyrion.

I assume episode 2 or 3.
