Who here thinks Snow is the “third head of the dragon ?”
Of course he is. He is half Targaryen after all. Or at least that’s what I’m going to believe until GRRM says otherwise.
wow - Jon snow is 1/2 targarian?
That is the prevailing theory.

Jon is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lynna Stark
Wait, what? So Rhaegar raped Lyanna, she had Jon (after Rhaegar was killed?), Ned covered it up saying Jon was his child, Jon Snow is Daenerys nephew but older than her and Maester Aemon is Jon’s great great great uncle AND Jon would’ve been next in line to the throne after Daenerys? wowzers.

I shouldn’t be getting involved in this conversation, I’m only up to the second book, after reading the first one about 15 years ago!
No rape. He chose Lyanna as the queen of beauty at the tournament (instead of his betrothed). Lyanna willingly went with her love, the story of her being raped was used later to infuriate Robert Barentheon who was in love with Lyanna.

Yes, Ned took the child as his own to save the childs life, as had anyone known of his Targaryan blood they would kill him.

Remember Ned’s dream while under the influence of painkiller? (milk of the poppy or somethin) He remembers the Tower of Joy guarded by the Kingsguard (who are to protect the ROYAL BLOOD) by order of the crown prince Rhaegar. He remembers a battle in which only he and the crangoman (cant remember his name) survive. He remembers entering and finding Lyanna dying in a bed of blood and rose petals (blood from childbirth). He remembers “Promise me Ned, promise me (that you will protect him!)”

SPOILERS

Kinda. It doesn’t point to rape but rather a mutual interest between Rhaegar and Lyanna. Also, I believe Jon would come before Daenerys but after the Mummer’s Dragon…assuming he is who he says he is…

Since Rhaegar was the first in line for the Iron Throne then his son Aegon would have been the second one in line and Snow the third one to have a claim. Viserys would have been the fourth one in line for a claim if Drogo didn’t had transformed his head in a golden version of “the scream” painting, and only if Aegon or Snow ( assuming Jon is indeed a Targaryen ) perished.

Dany was Aerys daughter and according to the laws of the Seven Kingdoms, women only have a claim IF all the avaliable males in the bloodlines are dead or sworn not to make the claim.

So, Jon is heir to the throne and Dany isn’t. That’s why I predict Jon will either marry Dany and restart the Targaryen bloodline, or he will end up with Sansa and rule the North. In the worst case scenario he will stay a celibatic old man at the Wall.

SPOILER

And I’m aware Jon kinda played Caesar in the end of ADwD, and I think he isn’t dead. GRRM get’s a bit predictible and I really think Snow gonna turn out to be the Prince who was Promised. Rhaegar thought his son would be the Prince, Jon wields Valyrian Steel, his wounds smoke, Melissandre looks for Stannis in the fire ( who was supposedly the Prince ) and sees only Jon.

I always thought the line (to paraphrase) “When I look for Stannis in the fire, all I see is Snow” would play better on TV, where the capitalization doesn’t make the meaning so apparently obvious.

Would you call that “predictable” though? More like, obvious to anyone who was paying attention. The only real question (in my mind) is how will he “come back?” My guess is Melissandre pulling the same thing that her fellow red priest was able to do in the south. But it still makes for a cliffhanger (and he does love those.

SPOILER

Who else is mad Theon hasnt been rampaged and piked to die yet?

Any Yes I think Sir Robert Strong is “The Mountain”. But the whole head being sent to Dorne makes it complicated. But then again who knows, I dont think Cersei knew about the ex maesters plans but then again she did plan on him creating/choosing a new knight for the Kings guard.

I also kind of hated all the Starks being killed off so fast. Ned was an ass for “confessing” I really wanted Robb’s war to last longer, and honestly the whole crap with Arya and the crap with Bran are getting weirder and weirder.

++ anyone think Brienne of Tarth will really kill Jamie? or will he sneak out as always

I just hope the last two books are completed. Too many authors fail to finish their sereies and George is so effing slow in his writing.

Theon fucked up pretty bad with the Starks, but compared to the Bolton’s he’s a saint. He saved Jeyne Pool when he didn’t have to and he seems to have remorse for what he did to Winterfell. Plus he didn’t really kill Bran or Rickon, so no harm no foul. I actually kind of like him.

As far as Sir Robert Strong, I think I remember reading that he always wears a helmet. Cersei’s maester was doing all kinds of experiments with dead bodies, so it’s possible Gregor’s body is now attached to someone else’s head.

Damn. Lot of Spoilers in here… lol.

Haven’t even finished reading the second book yet so I’d stay away from this thread until… let’s say April…

^yeah, i feel sorry for theon. he was under peer pressure from his family and the culture. he tried for a bloodless take over of winterfell, but we all know what happened.

Vicarion a fucking viking baddass though

Also, I think Theon’s probably been castrated. That’s bad enough.

I hate Theon.

Dude thinks the is made of gold and that he is the ultimate badass. “Hey dudes, let’s capture the most important city in the North, right in the middle of our enemies, with just 30 of us and then ask my sister, who hates the fuck out of me, to send us backup!”

I’m still making my way through the books, but in anticipation of Season 2, I’m going to drop this off 'cos I’m shamelessly in love with Emilia Clarke

Forgot to attach picture like an idiot

Jon is definitely the Prince that was promised. The prophecy calls for the Prince to come when the star bleeds and to be reborn in salt and smoke. The sigil of the knight smashed bloody on the wall by the giant was a star, and Jon’s body was laid to rest in the room under the wall for curing meat with salt and smoke.

If Coldhands is Benjen Stark, then maybe something in the Stark blood allows them to be part Other when they die near the Wall. I’d like to think the true Azor Ahai can come back on his own without Melisandre. She’s small potatoes compared to the larger magic involved.

I think after Jon wakes, Sam is going to blow the Horn of Joramun dropping the wall, and Jon+Danny will ride dragons into the north to melt the faces off some Others. (although i don’t think it will be all three dragons, because I’m worried Victarion is going to score one with his rune horn)

Yep, very pretty girl.

She reminds me of Bruce Willis’ daughter from The Last Boy Scout.

SPOILERS (are we still writing this?)

Re: Theon

You guys LIKE him? He has earned all the shit he got. He was given so much from the Starks…raised by Ned, befriended by Rob… Then he betrays them at the first chance he had. “No harm?” He got the city destroyed and many of the people he grew up with killed. If not for him, the Stark banner would (probably) still be in the North. He’s a horrible, horrible person. All this in addition to what was mentioned above. Damn great character though.

I agree with the point on him earning all the shit.

But if you think from his perspective, he was supposed to be the heir to the Iron islands. And when he goes back, everything had changed. He was thought of as more of a Stark than Greyjoy. He could see his sister enjoying all the favour from his father.
So in that sense he HAD to do something outstanding or incredible to gain that respect and favour.

Obviously it was a foolish decision and he did betray the Starks in almost every sense. But being tortured the way he was beyond savage.

Just marathoned Season 1 this weekend.

I am not a fantasy fan at all and this shit has me more hooked than any show I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait for Season 2.
Might actually even pick up the books, and I usually abhor fantasy.
