HBO got somewhat spoiled by the Sopranoes, I remember an HBO exec complaining that 1 episode of Rome cost as much as an entire season of Sopranoes (paraphrasing of course),which ultimately lead to it’s cancellation. Really really hope GOT dosen"t suffer the same fate.

Well if the show is a hit in the ratings they would love it to last for 20 episodes or more.
While I love tits as much as the next man, does anybody think they are kinda over doing the soft core porn angle? I mean the whole scene with the two whores was very drawn out. Again not the reason I watch the show.
Overdoing it ???
I’ve been disappointed that they seemed to show less the further the storyline moved. T&A are vital to the show.
I was a bit dissapointed with the ending of this season. Dragons?? I thought the show was moving a bit too much into fantasy (haven’t read any of the books). Very interested to see where this takes the show now.
FYI - Dragons on film - I could definatley see an increase in production costs.

Yes the books are a fantasy books more hard core then Lord of the Rings. The T&A is not played up in the book, so has been a little off than I expected.
Like I was saying I love the female form, however my expectations were that this was possible a series I could watch with two of my children who love fantasy. I just cant sit and watch that with my 17 year old daughter and 18 year old son. That is creepy and it takes away time with my teens that I could have enjoyed.
HOLY FUCKING FUCK. George RR Martin is a motherfucker. He gets you this close to an emotional payoff, and then he fucking kills everyone. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK!

I hear you - and noted - it would definatley be a more than a little creepy. I try watching it with the wife but she’s not into sci fi. She’d rather watch Snapped or I almost got away with it. Concerns me that she watches so much real life murder. I’m a sci fi geek, I only want to fantasize about killing her but she’s into the real thing lol…

Well I guess that is better than romantic comedies. Mine likes everything but scifi also and anime. All I know is that lesbo scene was getting to good if you know what I mean. If the wife had been watching I would have had no choice but to jump on her.

One thing that’s starting to get on my nerves: Peter Dinklage has the WORST British accent ever. It’s really, really terrible. The guy who plays Jaime does a much better job because he doesn’t try to overdo it so badly.
I am British and it’s not that bad. It is affected, but the character is quite flamboyant so I can live with that. The accent sounds a lot like Richard Wilson (One Foot in the Grave - original British version, heh) which is really posh Scottish rather than English.
I’m English also and agree. Dinklage was a Shakespearean actor I think, which would make sense

Welcome to the club. It gets even better!

Dude, I’m damn near finished with Storm of Swords, and it has got better and worse at the same time.
Joffrey’s murder was the least fucking satisfying death of a villain I’ve ever seen or read. Poisoned by fucking Littlefinger? Come the fuck on dude. Almost any alternative would have been better than that. The only good thing was that Sansa and Tyrion got to watch the little bastard die.
I have to say, Jaime and The Hound have really endeared themselves to me by this point.
One of the main drawbacks to the books, I feel, is that, while beautifully written, there really isn’t enough plot advancement to justify the thousands and thousands of pages that went into them.
Given the pace at which GRRM moves the stories along, as well as the numerous stories that need to be told, I am curious as to how (and where) this story is ultimately going to wind down (up) just a few books from now.
I don’t want to look back at the end of the series and wish he’d have swapped a couple thousand pages of political intrigue for more time spent campaigning against the Others, for instance.

See that is my thought also, I can also tell by the people just watching the series and have not read the books. Everyone is “Fuck we need to do something the others are coming”, however the books do not go this way. I am halfway through the third book and I cant even remember when they last spoke about the others.
Knowing the author he will keep us entrenched in the political and war strife of the kings etc, then the others swoop in and kill everyone, book ends.

The prologue of the 3rd book is about the Others.
Interestingly enough, I’m at page 234 in it, and in my copy at least page 200 is also about the Others.
