The wolves killed a lot of people in that scene in the book. Apparently they’re very difficult to shoot with and require a lot of takes, which explains their scarcity on the screen. They might switch over to CGI next season.
This makes sense. I hope they don’t go CGI though. Too much of that shit these days.
How else can they do it though? When I picture ghost, I imagine a F’ing scary thing. That dog looked playful. It wasn’t even angry. The direwolves are not supposed to be lassie. …eh. I found myself hoping for cgi.
I guess it depends on how much the wolves play into the story. If they’re essential elements, then yeah you need to CGI them because they are way too small right now.

I don’t know, haven’t read the books.

Just on a side note - I’ve got the first four books in PDF. It’s clunky reading, but if you want them you can PM me.

BOOK SPOILER
IronAbrams wrote:

To me the strongest evidence for the R + L = J theory is the Tower of Joy. Why would the three deadliest members of the Kingsguard be thousands of miles from King’s Landing protecting the “kidnapped” Lyanna Stark? Simple, she was carrying Rhaegar’s heir.

I just finished the first book, and probably shouldn’t even be reading the spoilers here, but the problem I see a couple small ‘inconsistencies’ with this, namely:

 1. If Snow is a Targaryen, it’s weak in him like it was in Visyres. In AGOT, Snow burns his hands fighting the wraith in Mormont’s room. If he was a true Dragon, the fire wouldn’t have affected him.
 2. The book clearly states that Snow and Arya are the only two of Ned’s children that resemble him. The rest look like Tully’s. It would seem inconsistent that Tully dominate’s Stark gene’s, but Stark dominate Targaryen.

again, I’m about to start the second book so I could be missing a lot of other evidence, but reading these spoilers, these points stuck out so I thought I’d share…

END SPOILERS

apologies, I thought I could send PDF’s through the PM system. I cannot - if you pm me your email - I will use it the once and forget it.

I truly hope they do all the books.

Great 8th episode. I enjoyed it tremendously.

Favourite parts: Syrio’s fight to protect Arya and Drogo’s duel… no words.

I did say ‘FUCK!’, at the end of it though…

Big shame there’re only 2 episodes remaining.
You weren’t the only one saying that at the end of Syrio’s duel to save Arya.

That’s the part which sucks about seeing this on the screen - for all the great scenes (the initial discovery of the White Walkers in the first ep, seeing characters like Tyrion, Syrio, Ned and pretty much everyone else for that matter being so well acted) there’s also some real downers (Syrio, Ned’s betrayal).

Watching the Red Wedding is really going to suck. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wrote several pages back that I am eagerly anticipating the duel between the Red Viper and the Mountain.

Now that I have seen how well they choreograph the fights in this show, I’m all but drooling. I’m also hoping they don’t skimp on the lesbian scenes with Cersei and Taena.

One of the downsides to the show, I feel, is that it isn’t doing Tyrion much justice. Peter Dinklage is a very good actor - perfect guy for the role - but there’s just something about reading the books and being completely immersed in the thought processes and machinations that allow him to build his power base over the course of the series that makes on-screen Tyrion a little lacking.

While no one watching the series will ever accuse Tyrion of being an idiot, I think the limitations of the medium and the overall pace of the show don’t do enough to showcase just how brilliantly clever the little bugger is. It’s what lends serious weight to the overall believability his character being able to attain the level of power he did.

Also a bit disapointed by the wolves not having as large a role as in the books. But again don’t know how they can fix that. On the other hand it made the death of Sansa’s wolf, & Arya driving hers away a much less heartbreaking scene.

Seem to remember reports of a monstrous wolf (Arya’s) being seen on the battlefield & ripping out throats? Also where is Rickons? (Shaggydog!) he was the best, like totally wild.

Well I saw that coming…was hoping he would tell the truth about the bitch king. But barristen and varys still know and i imagine even littlefinger would turn for the right reasons.

Death to Joffrey!

The worst part about that whole fucking thing was Ned’s “confession”. I understand why he did it, but I still don’t like it.

I also hope Drogo doesn’t die.

I PMed you my email.

EDIT: For the record, I ordered the books but haven’t received them yet. George deserves every penny he can get for this series, though somehow I was able to buy all four for $20.

Watching it tonight with my friend who hasn’t read the books… the expression on his face is going to be priceless.

The best assumption with this series is to just assume that nobody is safe from death no matter how important the character seems.

Fuck! I know that according to the books he had to go, but I was really hoping they had changed that. I feel like raging.

The whole irony is that the moment he forsakes his honor in order to protect his family he gets killed. Im not sure why the author kills off an epic character in irony so early…makes me sad :(.

Just watched it.

Just…

Just…

Now that left me cold. I thought he was like, the “hero” of the entire saga.

Holy fuckin shit. I absolutely abhor that wee shite. Snivelling, traitorous, spoonfed, dishonorable little turd - I want to rip him into little pieces and bury him alive.

Fuck I love this show…
