We are pulling back on this one for now since it seems like I’ve peaked a bit early. There are 3 weeks to the meet so he thinks I should lower the weights and build a bit until then.

Next week I may take my camera and get a video. I asked today if any of the guys video taped themselves. I just didn’t want to show up with a camera and look like a complete tool ready for a photo shoot. Some of them do but not very often.

215 was hard so I’m still struggling with low strength.
I’m not sure how much of it is pms,how much the strongman comp and how much just peaking too early in a normal strength cycle. I finally got up the courage to discuss the period thing with Bill.
His suggestion was to lower reps on all assistance work from now until Sept. 13 and not push heavier. Maybe go a bit lighter on some things and regenerate a bit.
During our conversation, which I tried to keep quiet and kind of low key, one of the 18 year old boys wandered over and thought we were just talking general stuff about the meet. He said “Don’t worry, we’re all feeling the same way.” We laughed at him ![]()
This seems to be lasting a long time for me. I think part of it is my age and I think I’m at the beginning of perimenopause. My cycle is all over the place and affects me much more than it used to.
I think it’s been a good 6 weeks since I had my last period and the next is no where in sight except for the hormonal bullshit and weakness. It’s like the never ending pms.
On the bright side, at least I know it isn’t caused by pregnancy which would suck far worse than peri menopause. Yay, I’m aging but at least I’m not pregnant. I like to find my rays of sunshine where I can.
Since I’m feeling like crap, I thought I would post some pictures because I think I still look good. I took these today.

Not to mention I can show off my new underpants and bra set.
Finally, here is a video I dragooned my daughter into doing for me. My latest chin ups. I’ve hit 13 reps a few times but could only pull out 12 today. If the video doesn’t come up, it’s on my profile. There seems to be a video issue on here recently.
I had to look on your profile for the video. You look great! Especially your abs. I want mine to look like that! Very strong.
I have a chin-up bar in my door frame just like yours but I can’t seem to trust it. It just feels like it’s going to give way. Seeing you use yours has motivated me to give it another try. I realize now I have it too low in the frame.

I love my chin up bar. I got it about a year and a half ago at Canadian Tire and it was the best $20 I’ve spent. Mine is screwed right into the frame so it feels secure and I do a set when I get up in the morning.
Thanks for the compliment about my abs. The funny thing is I rarely do direct ab work. It’s all squats and deadlifts. It just shows how those lifts really work so much of your body.

I am glad someone else doesn’t do direct ab work too. I rarely do.
A chin up bar is a good idea. I have a squat rack and just put(well I guess hubby puts) it on the top slot and I use it as a pull up bar. Nice thing about being tiny!
Great job on the chinups
Pictures look great.

I’m getting very frustrated by the fact that I seem to be getting weaker and weaker. I truly believe it is all hormonal and will fix itself when my cycle starts again. I hope it’s soon because it’s seven weeks now and if I get any weaker, I won’t be able to dress myself. This is really starting to get me down.
On the bright side, Bill said everyone except me had to work on their flexibility while he was away. I may not be able to lift worth crap but I can put my feet behind my head like a house on fire.
I got some videos training today and thought I would post them.
This is 155 for 5.
165 for three. The last one is high.
Can anyone spot the difference between the first clip and the second?
175 for one.
At least one of the guys will be going to the meet that isn’t competing to assist with coaching and administrative stuff and, apparently, to help me get dressed ![]()
The knee wraps are working really well for me. Although, I haven’t added any weight to my squat max yet (previously 185) this lift has the distinction of not crapping out like the rest seem to be doing lately.
Finally, here I am failing at 215. I may have been able to grind it up but at this point, I don’t think it would have been helpful.
Thanks for posting your vids!
In the second video you have your singlet on!! And there is a different guy to the right of you…
Did I answer correctly? ![]()
Squatting is doing you good, btw ![]()
Just keep it up and work through it, I know that’s probably shitty advice, but can you imagine how you’d feel if you WEREN’T training?
A visit to the DOC couldn’t hurt either if this keeps up…that’s why I ended up giving in, I was so tired of being tired all the time, and tah-dah…thyroid, boo…

ding, ding, ding. You’re right. It’s the singlet. Between the first and second set Bill asked if I had it with me and suggested I put it on to most closely approximate what I’ll be wearing in the competition to get comfortable with it.
It funny but I don’t feel tired. I’ve been iron deficient and had whatever it was 3 years ago but with this I’m not tired and lethargic. My lifts just keep getting weaker. I feel fine until I go to lift and I just can’t pull it out. I know I’ll pull through it but I hope it’s soon.
The squat videos looked good.
On your deadlift, your butt came up first and you turned it into a SLDL. You need to lead with your head and push your hips forward.
Nice lifts!
