A Case for the Meat and Nut Breakfast.

I guess I am not sure what you mean, both of these scenarios (dawn phenomenon, and somogyi effect) already have their wheels in motion before breakfast.

My point being if insulin is already spiking then eating a protein (mild insulin spike) and a nut breakfast (fat can help keep insulin down) might be more effective than having a high carb breakfast in an insulin spiked state.

Or just eat what you like which is healthy and a kicker for your system?

Eggs, cereal, milk, bacon, sausages etc.

Coffee, tea. Why people have to micro-manage every part of their lives is beyond me.

You do realize this is a diabetic article…

Its not about micromanaging. Its about being a healthy, strong and ripped. Simple. But your point is taken.

Except the article you quoted is talking about diabetics, and both scenarios are where insulin is low, and blood sugar is low, so the body (generally) releases glucagon to compensate for the low blood sugar. Insulin and glucagon are antagonistic, so if insulin is low, glucagon could be high and vice versa.

The article is talking about why you may as a diabetic have high blood sugar in the morning, both of the scenarios are as a result of what I mentioned a deviation from normal blood sugar to low blood sugar, the body responds by raising blood sugar levels (generally) done by glucagon.

Okay sorry. I am wrong. I appreciate it though. Again my apologies.

There is absolutely nothing healthy about cereal. Most of it is practically candy.

Well, whole foods cereal is usually a mix of oatmeal, dried fruit, and nuts. But I understand and agree with where you’re coming from.

No worries. I tend to agree though that a meat and nut breakfast would be of benefit to a diabetic. Assuming they don’t overdo it with the calories.
