915, Failing on Reps

Hi Christian,

First off, I want to say I’m a huge fan of your work. Got great results from your 6 week superhero program and am now using your 915. I was doing well until this week where yesterday I failed on bench only getting 2 reps instead of 3 for the first set then could only do singles after that. Then today for deadlifts, I couldn’t even get the bar off the ground more than a couple inches. I used all maxes I have lifted in the past few months so I’m not sure if it’s that or maybe it’s the 4th training day where I donspeed deadlifts and farmers carries. I’m thinking the farmers carries are the issue as I’m using 250 pound each tanks. Maybe use lighter dumbbells as the tanks combined pretty much equal my deadlift max?

I’m not CT but from what you’ve said it’s either 2 things.

  1. Your maxes are not conservative enough. If I remember correctly it’s something like 87% of your max is your training max. This should have been tested the week before. I’m very experienced in the 5/3/1 programming. It’s very similar. And what I’ve just said is almost always the issue.

  2. You cannot recover properly from your heavy carries. On a strength peaking program like 915 heavy carries are not helping you out. If your accessory selection is hindering your strength in the main lifts, you are wrong.

Hope this helps
Cheers,

Thank you for your reply

I have run this template 3-4 times and I have never hit every rep. I just do what I can, then singles or even drop the weight back a bit if I need to. I put it down to a bit less sleep, energy etc. What I do know is that at the end I was always stronger than when I started, and that is the main goal.
