I just saw a show called “Man VS Food” and he ate one of those huge steaks in Texas in 29 minutes.
I happened to be having my Sunday dinner, which I think was about 30-40oz of sirloin with potatoes and a large salad and wine, and thought that maybe I could eat one of those someday.
Has anyone here done it? What about other feats of eats?
By the way, I was going to post this in GAL, but it’s about steak so fuck it.
i’m the reigning pie-eating champ at my college. it wasn’t one of those stupid pie trays with whipped cream crap either, it was a race to eat an entire apple pie. meh
You know what, I bet it would be a lot harder than it seems.
I’ve gone on binge eating sprees before, usually when I go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. After about 10 bites of whatever it is you’re devouring, your hunger is satiated and you start to think “damn, I don’t know if I can finish this”.
Texas is full of a lot of big people, and if that 72oz challenge were reasonably attainable I bet the restaurant would go out of business
I can easily handle 10-20kcals in a day and can handle lots of food in one sitting, but for some reason I don’t think I would be able to finish that off. 4.5 lbs of protein in one sitting sounds real rough.
He did it at the Big Texan in Amarillo TX. Ive been to the resturaunt and have witnessed somebody eat the 72 oz steak, the side salad, a baked potato, and a fried shrimp cocktail in 46 minutes

I have done an 18" wheat pizza in under 30 minutes and got a t-shirt in Salt Lake City. My school also had a fundraiser for eating chicken hot wings. Whenever I pig out at an all you can eat place, I take at least 4 digestive enzymes. For the wing eating competition, I took about 12. I was fine the next day; the other competitors were still feeling sick a few days after.

But it was spread out throughout the day. It was still pretty hard. I ate 2 meals and post workout shake on top of that. Peeps over at bb.com decided to do this as challenge.
You should check out furious pete on youtube. Also a bodybuilder, he posts on bb.com. He did the steak you are talking about in 7 minutes. Insane!
amarillo, Tx is correct. its just down the highway from where i am just a couple of miles. we had a contest a while back to see who could eat it divided in teams in 4 ppl in 15 minutes. our 4th didnt show up, so we just enjoyed the free meal (it was a sponsored event).
honestly, it doesnt taste like a “steak”, more like a roast…well done. not very pleasing to choke down. if it was an actual steak cooked medium (or several steaks equaling 72oz) maybe i would be more interested.

I think I could be able to do it… I ate about 70 ounces over the course of an hour I guess when I was 15… and I probably weighed 145 lbs haha. I dunno just always been able to pack away food.
I would have to re train my stomach. I eat about 9 times a day and my overall calorie intake is high. But that amount of beef plus the sides would make me rupture about half way through. We have a similar challange in a steakhouse in my town. It is only 48oz of meat plus sides, still an impressive amount. One of my friends ate it all, but he is used to eating 1 meal a day.

That’s cool.
There is a similar challenge around my place where you have to eat I believe 32 inch pizza with a partner in 30 minutes or so. The pizza is not just cheese but called the carnivore with like 8 different meat toppings.
I thought I could eat half but easily ate 4 pieces (out of 16 pieces in the whole pizza) but on the 5th one I finished but nearly puked.
haha good deal.
I did this one at noon on a Sunday while decently hungover. Huge mistake. I got the T-shirt, but man, that was a really painful 1.5 hours. Wouldn’t have been a problem if I had planned ahead.
