700lb Man Asking for Help

The man looks and sounds as if he’s ready to make a lifestyle change. I think he needs to be introduced to the iron game. What advice (if any) would you give him? How would you help him if you could?

–Not sure how to post links. The code at the end of the url is: /watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QhpqVpu-uYw

Meat/eggs + veggies + vitamins and other supps, <2000 kcal/day, maybe even less, until he gets to something more humane and is able to actually move… say getting to 300 lbs.

I tend to have a general disgust towards fat people. Not an extreme disgust but they have just pissed me off with their “O no one has ever had as tough a position as I have to loss weight, how could I possibly succeed” nonsense. I truly respect an overweight person who just says “I don’t really want to lose weight”, as opposed to those who just make excuses for years. But, when I see a young man like this, it really makes me sad. I really wish I could share my love for the gym with everyone, especially people like this who have lost quality of life due to their weight. He clearly has some eating addiction issues, and clearly needs some real help. Help that is more then just a nutritionist. I am just thinking out loud at this point, but I really do hope he gets some help, he needs it soon, the lifespan of a 700 pounder cant be too good. Rant over…

Clen + T3 + DNP + PSMF.

I wonder what his situation is above and beyond being a fat person with an enabler in the house. Have his parents or siblings never tried to get him in touch with a doctor or nutritionist about this?

700 lb man doesn’t need the iron game. If any activity he needs the pool.

but mainly dietary changes until he gets his weight down a lot. Have him focus on one small thing at a time. Does he drink calories? Perhaps start there.

drastic changes don’t work for the vast majority of people.

This video is going Viral, im really curious to see were he is within a year. He seems really sincere in him change his lifestyle.

Wish him the best of luck.

Get moving would be my advice.

The difference between just getting moving and starting a lifting program is not as significant as going from couch potato to regular exercise of any kind.

Why we get fat by Gary Taubes or check out one of his lectures on youtube

My question is why did he wait so long before asking for help? you know when you’re a healthy weight and when you’re not. I hope they do help him but he has to want help - really want help.

cognitive dissonance?

implying he’s not eating 10k+ kcal of pure shit per day.

The dude is 700 pounds. I would BET his diets failed because he couldn’t stick to them and continually relapsed back into his old habits … not because he was eating 1500kcal/d with ~40% of it being whole wheat.

He needs professional help - someone who has [u]actually helped people get thin[/i] as well as someone who can address the psychological aspects that are very likely driving this.

I nominate you.

Put him on the Roybot Plan: ban the person(s) who has been feeding him ever since he had difficulty leaving own house from seeing him. Disconnect his phone line so he has no contact with all the local fast food joint owners who’ll probably go bankrupt without his custom within a month anyway. The weight will fall off him.

This is the exact question I always ask when I hear these stories. It isn’t as if you wake up one day and realize you are 700 friggin lbs! I know I start to feel like crap when I’m 10 lbs. over. I know there has to be deep psychological issues involved in this but I have a hard time being sympathetic. It is much easier for me to feel for the kid that does wake up one day and has cancer. The kid didn’t do this to himself and my heart goes out to these people. Some slob that can’t stop eating or drinking or smoking or whatever and gets sick because of it, it sucks to be him but he/she put themselves in that position.

Wrong … it’s the fast food industry that makes them fat!!!

OP, you copy and paste the URL into the text box which you are reading right now. Simple as that.

Watched the video, too. What a pathetic piece of shit “I tried everything, don’t know what to do” Errrr… ever tried not stuffing your gullet with tens of thousands of calories? Since when is this rocket science?

I think you have many different categories.

For instance, you have:

-Fat guy who secretly loves stuffing himself until his shirt buttons pop off at night because it is part of a sexual fetish (there actually seem to be tons of these…no pun intended…so don’t feel sorry for every extremely obese person you meet).

-Fat guy who has some mental disorder that causes him to rely on food for comfort despite the damage being done yet also seems to be accompanied by a lot of denial in order to let it get that out of hand.

-fat guy with true metabolic disorder or drug related weight gain.

-Fat guy who is trying to get disability so he can stay at home and eat even more all day by us paying him to do it.

Also, I think environment factors in heavily now. If everyone around you is fat, you will likely feel less need to avoid that cake…because who cares anymore?

I have gone entire days without seeing a person who was not either obese or close to it. It’s like the Sahara only the sand is adipose and cheesefries.

Seriously?
Issues with Taubes’ idea of ‘science’ aside, a 700lb man is just going to watch a youtube clip and read a book and suddenly have a complete change of mentality?

After watching that video, it’s clear the guy needs serious help. I second the ‘Roybot Diet’, someone is clearly supplying him with food and they need to be removed from his life. Six months to a year of strictly controlled intake could work wonders for this guy, it wouldn’t be easy or pleasant but by then he could actually be able to move about on his own.

Oh and EDUCATION, there must be some underlying cause as to why he got to this weight that needs to be addressed.
