Me too. That “pulling elbows to chest” trick works.
I wish I’d started doing those in my 20s.

95 lb bear hug sandbag carry about 150 feet
Incredible windedness from sandbag carry; lot of sweat for shirtless 4:30 am workout. Was starting to appreciate my gorilla look when barber called to say he’s reopening next week. No idea about gym and my equipment order remains undelivered.
Gorilla- My kids said to me earlier this week…this is the longest hair they have ever seen me have…I usually sport a flat top.
Im kinda like band work…nice supplement how about you?
I previously thought bands were for weak guys before I started using them. Surprise. They even produce soreness.
I plan to continue using them after the virus passes.

Gym’s open, but I’m not going until September. Rack should be delivered this week and I’m still on a list for plates and bar.
pull-ups without bands…
one day I will get them…
Do you consider bumper plates in your research? I comment this because even for the basic lifts these plates help a lot, e.g., deadlifts.
I haven’t been able to find any plates in any price range.

You might try Crain’s Muscle World. Last I checked, which was about a week or so ago, he had Okie power bars still in stock, some bumper plates and some steel plates (the steel ones were a bit goofy – they have handles on them).
Biker- Looks like Vulcan strength has bumpers
Thanks guys, I’ll check those.
I checked the two suppliers mentioned above. No plate/bar inventory until about mid July. At least I’ve got some equipment.

pullups 4,4,4,4,4
bands: lat pulldowns 3 x 20 (about as good as in gym); tricep extensions 3 x 10 (also gym quality); curls 3 x 10; flyes 3 x 10 (not quite as taxing as gym); side lateral raises 3 x 10 (like 15-20 lb dumbbells); front raises 3 x 10.

Sandbag produces breathlessness awhile. Overall this workout is ok. I find I’m liking doing this even earlier than my gym time. ALMOST turned into nearly full gym parking lot when I drove by yesterday around 4:30 pm. I will stick to my 2 - 3 month forbearance rule, especially since a 60 something client told me Tuesday he knew 6 people in the area who had died ranging in age from 30s to 60s.

After workout moved about 500 lbs of books out of my garage to make space for setting up the new rack.
Hey, 66 y/o Carl in Dover checking in. Just found this thread. Been reading the posts and it sounds like the same sorta situation I’m in.(training at home)
220# farmer walk to the end of driveway and back tonight. I’ll have to measure it, probably 200#.
Great idea with the sandbag. I’ve got a 50# that I need to start using.
Good farmers walk work. A 50 lb sandbag shoulder carry for you should be easy, I recommend a sandbag with 150 lb capacity to start, filling it in about 30 - 50 lb jumps. Do bear hug walks when first increasing sand weight. When those get easy, move to shoulder carries via olympic clean maneuver; change shoulders halfway. I also recommend increasing sand weight vice walking distance. Yesterday was my first time getting 100 lb bag onto shoulder after about 6 workouts over 2 weeks, and I didn’t change shoulders halfway. The amorphous bag is more challenging than a weight plate. Afterwards expect some serious breathing.
You’ll become a longshoreman in about 3 months.
AWESOME stuff Biker! that made me laugh
Today I measured my Farmers Walk, 220# @ 150’ out, 1 minute rest and 150’ back.
5K row # 29:10
5K Assault Bike 12:15
Bet you can easily handle a l00 lb sandbag with that farmers walk work. 150?

Couldn’t sleep past 3:30 am so got up and worked out. Commercial gym opens at 4:30…but they do have great stuff. Might go inspect the virus prevention stuff they’ve implemented.
NICE !!!
