65+ Training

Chalk will help way more.

Finally, I’m back to old name. Now got to start back in gym.

Gym was same but I wasn’t.

incline bench 4 x 6 - 8 @ 90,110, 135, 155
pullover machine 3 x 8 @ 160, 170, 180
machine press 3 x 6-8 @ 90
different machine press 3 x 8 @ 90, 110, 130
tricep extensions supersetted with cable curls 3 x 8 @ 90/70

Poundages suffered from layoff. Odd.

You’ll get it back soon enough. It’s nice seeing the old moniker back.

Crippler, that other moniker was clearly stupid. Not sure how that hiccup happened. Glad it has passed.

Yesterday, one minute 50 rep pushups. I’m a pushup machine in need of a spotter for benching.

Today:
barbell rows 3 x 10 @ 135, 155, 205
machine rows 3 x 10 @ 180, 200, 200
machine overhead rows 3 x 10 @ 90, 180, 180
tricep extensions supersetted with cable curls 3 x 10 @ 70, 75, 75

Gym work feels good again. Time away was my laziness.

Saturday:
bench press machine, 3 x 10 up to 220 lbs
cable flyes 3 x 10 to about 110 each arm (machine setting still not decipherable)
new machine lower pec press, 3 x 10 up to 180
seated machine shoulder press 3 x 8 @ 90
machine pullovers 3 x 8 @ 160, 170, 210
cable extensions superseted with cable curls , 3 x 10 @ 70, 75, 80

today:
machine rows 3 x 10 90, 180, 250
barbell rows 3 x 10 @ 135, 225, 225
cable rows 3 x 8 @ 140, 160,180
cable extensions supersetted with cable curls 3 x 10 @ 70, 70, 75

Been forgetting baking soda cocktails. They affect endurance, not increased strength.

incline bench 3 x 10 @ 95, 115, 125
upper pec machine 3 x 10 @ 90, 140, 140
wide chest machine 3 x 10 @ 140, 180, 180
machine press 3 x 10, up to I think 140
SGHP 3 x 5 @ 135

At least I showed up. Skipped the baking soda. More food = better workouts, but I’ve lost 8 pound loss over 2 months just as planned. Planning to reach 240 and to stay there.

7/22 back from vacation

Caught whatever was going around where we stayed. Down to lingering cough.

Now have to decide on new workout.

There he is! I was wondering where you were.

Hiding out on Lake Superior. No workouts for 3.5 weeks.

Hopefully you had a great time.

First exercise in 4 weeks: 50 pushups under a minute. Still got it.

Managed to lose a few pounds on vacation. Was on prednisone for a lung problem. Tired and hairier after ending the dosages, and problem remains.

While on vacation some friends and I went to a machinist’s shop. Machinist looked like a 240 lb powerlifter. His skin made him look “youthfully old” to me. I later guessed he was in mid 40s, my dr friend guessed mid 50s, and my 73 yr old friend guessed 60s. Machinist later told one of my friends he’s 46.

I had a strong feeling he had abused steroids, but he was a good guy. He chops motorcycles.

50 pushups.

Some slight coughing and sore throat reappeared. Out of drugs, back to dr.

Get some rest.

Dr said I have an allergy; he said it happens as one ages. It’s a relief of sorts. Wife was worried enough to accompany me to dr visit. New meds. I still feel a bit crappy but coughing seems better.

Bulldog’s injury posts are more interesting, but this stuff is a figurative pain in the buttocks.

Usual 50 pushups; maybe gym next week.

Well at least an allergy should be an easy fix.
