5/11 still messing around in gym

Did OHP with new, great machine today that really mimicked barbell presses. 3 x 8 @ 95, 115, 125

single arm cable rows 2 x 8 @ 120, 140, 1 x 5 @ 150 (150 was really tiring)

usual machine presses 3 x 8 @ 90, 180, 200

Feels like an off week for sure now.

5/16 legs

usual kettlebell warmup

squats 1 x 8 @ 135, 1 x 20 @ 225, 1 x 6 @ 315 (225 felt light so I kept going)

hack squats 3 x 10 @ 225 , tried going deeper

leg press 1 x 100 @ 135

bench 1 x 10 @ 135, 1 x 10 @ 205, 1 x 4 @ 225

bench press machine 3 x 8 @ 230, 250, 260 (I apparently have some fear factor barbell benching w/o spotter.)

machine rows each arm 3 x 8 @ 90, 135, 160

machine flyes 3 x 10 @ 120, 160, 175

Chicken Little, Jeez.

There is nothing wrong with protecting yourself. I always get spotter as the weight gets heavy. The problem is, finding someone who I trust.

deadlifts 1 x 10 @ 135, 1 x 8 @ 225, 1 x 0.75 @ 325, 1 x 0.75 @ 315, 1 x 8 @ 295

cable rows 3 x 8 @ 120, 140, 160 (each arm)

SGHP 3 x 6 @ 135,135,155

I do better when I skip gym day before this workout day. Maybe next week a 325 deadlift.
I’m ever mindful of OG’s 410 deadlift.

OG, 405 for you is no big deal, but if I can get to 405 deadlifts I’ll be extremely happy.
So much for 14 years’ age difference.

5/19 shoulders

machine OHP 2 x 8 @ 80, 125, 1 x 4 @ 145 (this machine mimicks an OHP very well)

machine pullovers 3 x 8 @ 180, 270, 290

different machine press 3 x 8 @ 140, 160, 180

lateral raises 3 x 8 w/35s

3rd different machine press 3 x 8 @ 90

Army helicopter pilot in gym this morning. Full of energy. He deploys to Iraq next month. I thanked him for his service.

kettlebell warmup

leg press 1 x 100 @ 135 (first time in several months and it felt like it. Messed up squat routine)

squats 2 x 10 @ 135, 225, 1 x 4 @ 315 (was expecting to do 1 x 6 @ something higher)

hack squats 4 x 10 @ 225, 225, 225, 315. Went really deep.

Got to build up leg press endurance this week.

5/23 chest

dumbbell bench 4 x 8 @ 40, 60, 70, 80

incline bench 2 x 8 @ 135, 155, 1 x 4 @ 175

machine flyes 3 x 10 @ 120, 170, 200

cable crossovers 3 x 8 w/70s, 80s, 90s

Forgot leg presses today. Yesterday I noticed I was walking faster on way to courthouse, and not winded. Nevertheless, 405 deadlift on first day being 69 isn’t going to happen.
