6-OXO and Women?

Hello all…

I’m very new to these forums, so forgive me if this question has already been asked. I feel like this is probably the best place to post this.

I’ve been lifting for a couple of years now, made some pretty good gains but am looking to take my body to that next level. My greatest fear is looking like “every other girl” you see at the gym or on the street – I want to stand out above the rest (while still maintaining my femininity)!

Anyway, I am very interested in taking 6-OXO but everything I read says that it is not recommended for women - without really giving any reasoning as to why. Of course, I can assume why…blocking estrogen and effectively raising test. levels could possibly lead to problems but I am wondering if any women out there actually have experience with this product (or similar products).

This is something I am not willing to jump into blindly, as one day I plan on having children…I don’t want to jeopardize my chances of one day getting pregnant.

I have heard of figure girls and female bodybuilders taking this product, but have not been able to get an answer as to whether or not is could potentially harm a woman’s reproductive system. I also understand that many female bb’ers make the decision early on not to have kids…So it makes me wonder.

If anybody could provide me with more information it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

If that is your pic, you already stand out.

There is not that much info on this product. There have been a few experiments run with men at the recommended doses. Some info can be found by google-ing 4-Androstene-3,6,17-trione. If you enter this into pubmed.gov, you can find studies done on it, but something tells me that you will not find one specific to your situation.

This product is an anti-estrogen so it does have the potential to severely affect female reproductive ability. To what degree and how each woman reacts is unknown as no sufficient data exists. I doubt that testosterone elevation will be significant in women due to lack of balls (apparently that is where most of the test is made - or so many books and professors have led me to believe).

The fact that you have mentioned your femininity and children makes me think that you should be extra careful with products like this. Just because they are not classed as drugs does not mean they are not powerful as such, it is after all a steroidal compound that binds irreversibly to the aromatase enzyme.

There are those who need to be freaks at any cost, and those who want to be. Know which you are, because if it the latter, this is not for you as the not so big next step is full out steroids and prescription aromatase inhibitors.

If you are looking for ways to naturally lower estrogen, or at least alter the estrogen profile to lesser strength estrogens, then there are some products that will helps you do this without the more serious effects that 6-oxo may have.

Diindole Methane, Calcium D-Glucarate, resveratrol (Rez-V in store on this site), along with generous quantities of ground flax can alter the estrogen profile enough to see a decrease in subcutaneous water making one look more ripped or ‘dry’. Coupled with diet and herbal diuretics, this can allow one to bring in their physique as close as possible to chemically assisted.

The use of this product to help with bulking is much more difficult to discern as the few women who have used such compounds already are doing so many things diet, training, and lifestyle-wise that contributes to their results, that often it is hard to figure out what contributes how much.

As a natural alternative, I would suggest Carbolin 19 and Se7en also found here. They are safe supplements that should give you results that are in the same range (I would speculate that they are more effective, but haven’t observed 6-oxo intake in women to compare it to).

Yes, that is my pic - thanks for the compliment…Always striving for bigger and better though!

Thanks for all of the great information…a lot of it was what I didn’t want to hear (because 6-OXO seems to be such a great product), but sometimes it’s hard to accept the truth. I will definitely look into more natural ways of lowering my estrogen so as to achieve the look I desire. And you’re right, I am not willing to become the “freak at any cost” – I’d much rather weigh all of my options and then choose the safest and most effective alternatives.

I’m still interested in hearing of other people’s experiences with this product (out of curiosity, if nothing else)!

Nidu22, First off, I have to agree, you look incredible. Along with the work you’ve no doubt put in at the gym and with your diet, you obviously have great genetics. I have a question for you though, if you don’t mind. What is your reason for wanting to take 6-OXO? Not saying if I’m for or against it at this point but why do you want to take it?

Thanks MsM for the compliments! You look great as well.

Well, from what I have read 6-OXO blocks estrogen which would increase my testosterone and allow for more growth (which would be awesome). Also, the “hardening” effects would be a nice change from the softness estrogen provides. I know I’m a woman and all and softness is not necessarily a bad thing, but I work hard for the muscle I have, and I really just want to showcase that in the best possible way.

Of course, as I get older (I’m 25 next week)my estrogen levels will decrease naturally so I guess that’s something to take into consideration as well…

Here’s an interesting discussion regarding 6-OXO that you should take a look at, paying particular attention to Bill Roberts’ explanation of 6-OXO.

Food for thought.

Wow, lots of info there. So according to that thread, not only is 6-OXO useless in women, it is also useless in men? Good to know because my bf was thinking about using it as well. I will point him to that thread - thanks!

So are there any other aromatase inhibitors that act similarly to the claims 6-OXO makes? And any women that are familiar with using them? Again, I am just trying to get all the info I possibly can…not making any decisions as of yet.

Hey, hey, hey! Never mind older; I’ve got 9 years on ya. lol Seriously, thank you.

New Damage beat to it and it’s worth reading. I just wanted to add that it is strongly suggested that women not take this supplement.

For what you would like to achieve, what about Carbolin 19 or Se7en? I can attest to the Se7en, personally (available through the site’s store).

Good luck to you no matter what you choose though. I’d like to see how you put so much muscle on in two years! Will you be blogging any of your training at all? I wouldn’t mind seeing what you’ve done.

Hope to see you around the forums some more! Welcome to the site.

To be completely honest…I have never heard of Carbolin 19 and Se7en…I’ve haven’t read or researched either of these products. Are they considered aromatase inhibitors or something else – when I get home tonight I will do some surfing the net and reading up on them both.

As for my training, I haven’t been training for two solid years. I started in 2005, lifted seriously for a year…then took a year off and lost all of my muscle(don’t ask). I picked it up again in March of 2007 and have been training hard ever since…Genetic, perhaps? Although I really don’t feel that I look all that big…just stocky (lol).

I may start posting my training…we’ll see!!

Here are links to the two products I was talking about.

You are not stocky! Yes, you have great genetics but you have to do the work to look like that too; don’t short change yourself.

I’d still love to see that training.

Very intersting subject, but what leaves me more distraught is the lack of women like y’all in my area!

OP,
I think your physique is great, and by no means will it blend in with the typical “needs to eat a sammich” gym girl.

As mentioned Carbolin 19 and Se7en would be great additions for you.

welcome aboard
