5 Months Into TRT, First 3 Were Great, Last 2 Suck

@hardartery As I told you you’ve not understood anything with my magnesium situation.

I never said magnesium insufficiency makes me sleepy, but that magnesium supplementation above certain minimal dosage makes me sleepy. And I tend to get all kinds of side effects with supplements.

With drugs is even worse. Needed 3 weeks to get trough the side effects of metformin (it was very worthy) and 3 months to stop experiencing the side effects of cabergoline. Can you please explain how this is all in my head, how insomnia, dhiarria and stomach pain are in my head, together with many other side effects?

And yes if I increase the magnesium dosage the next day I feel like crap. And the blood results say I need to increase it, but cannot do it without feeling crappy.

Are you saying there is a better protocol? If so what is it? I’m only trying to understand not trying to be a pain in your butt.

I can tell you which protocol is best for me, but only you can answer what is best for you via trial and error. I’ve seen some men feel better on an EOD protocol versus a daily protocol.

Those are all things that be the result of anxiety, which can very easily be self-induced. What exactly leads you to belive that you are deficient in Magnesium? It is supposed to make you sleepy, by the way. And it gives you diarrhea when you’re getting too much of it, that’s kind of a tip off that you’re overdoing it.

@hardartery

I run a magnesium blood test and I was at the lower border, two times. Just want to optimize it reading everywhere how important it is. Also I get cramps in legs sometimes but may not be due to that.
Just want to take 150-200mg on top of my current regimen, but I dont wanna feel more sleepy since Im too sleepy and low energy as a baseline already.

I consider to try topical but many people say it is not absorbed well, or try glycinate hoping to be leas sedative

What time of day are you taking magnesium? Since it makes you sleepy, have you considered taking it at night before bed?

@bcostigan41

Of course. And Im sleepy all the next day after that.

How much do you take?

@bcostigan41
I take 150mg aspartate(1 pill ZMA) and feel Ok. When I try to add 150-200mg more citrate/l-threonate or even aspartate get more sleepy.

I would run a red blood cell magnesium testing, the body can instruct itself to dump magnesium out of your tissues into the bloodstream when deficient, then blood magnesium looks normal while tissues are depleted.

Just like when testing Free T3, we want t to know much hormone is making it into the cells.
