Can someone please explain the difference between the 2 supplements. Methoxy-7 contains 5-methyl-7-methoxy-isoflavone, but what is 7-ispopropoxy isoflavone? Are they the same supplement? Thanks
No, they are not the same flavone. 7-isopropoy isoflavone is also known as ipriflavone or FGP(flavone growth potentiator, I think). Ipriflavone is purported to help increase bone density as it exerts some estrogenic effect on bone mass, but not on muscle tissue. I am unsure as to other benefits of it, although I beleive it has displayed some LBM gain effect in hospital patients. Methoxy 7 is a flavone hich seems to exert anabolic/anti-catabolic effects without mediation through hormonal means. Increased protein synthesis and probably lowered cortisol, and probably estrogen too if it pans out.
An important difference is that the 5-methyl group of 5-methyl-7-methoxy-isoflavone blocks estrogenic activity, so this is true for Methoxy-7 but not for the other product.
Regarding 7-isopropoxyisoflavone, ipriflavone, there has been some debate about with regard to side effects, including some rather severe immune suppression. This in reference to its use as an antiosteoporotic or calcium regulator. There both is some alarming evidence, and also some argument that one should not be alarmed. Personally, I don’t know what to make of that mess. But, the 5-methyl compound has had no indications of any of those problems.
ipri is better for bones not lean mass
