Awesome - great quads!

I won the Welterweights at last year’s NPC KY, and judging by your front double-bi pose, you’d have made me a bit concerned on stage last year. Very impressive, with good overall balance and wicked quads.

If you look as good from the back as you do from the front, you’ll be hard to beat.

I’ll be in the audience at the prejudging and evening show Saturday. Best of luck.[/quote]

Thanks. I’ve seen the video, you looked great!

Thank you. Coming from a veteran that means a lot. I’m praying I can make the welterweight class, I think I’ll have a decent chance if I do!

It’s funny, when I first started lifting I never thought I would get my legs even with my upper body because I hated to train them. Honestly, I still hate to train them, but if you’re going for symmetry they have to be there!

gr8 for ur first show ,outstanding legs when that water comes out of u gonna look even better well done.

Lookin awesome man, great definition and symmetry everything looks great.

With a darker tan all those striations and shadows are gonna make you look even better

Wicked legs too.

Really good job. I think you have great proportions and you would do very well in Natural shows.

Keep up the good work and best of luck.

More pics!

I’m impressed. I keep an eye out for people the same height as me to see what they can accomplish - you’ve done a great job! I’m a few years away from a build like that, but its good to be reminded that it can be done well.

Thanks to all who responded. I appreciate all the positive feedback from everyone, it is certainly appreciated!

The competition was Saturday 8/25 and it went pretty well. I took first place in the Men’s Open Welterweight Class, first place in the Men’s Novice Lightweight Class, first place in the men’s novice overall, and placed second in points to the reigning Mr. Kentucky in the Men’s Open Overall (he was a light-heavyweight, 191 lbs).

It would have been great to step on stage in my first competition and take the State Title, but I was outsized by about 25 pounds. I felt like I was harder and better conditioned than the winner, but the difference between us in conditioning wasn’t enough to make up for the size differential. I should have lots of pictures very soon and I’ll post them in the physique/performance forum.

Again, thanks to all who replied!

Well done, pretty impressive to do so well in first comp!

Thanks guys. I’m excited about getting the pictures back, I wish it didn’t take so long but I’m in the process of getting them ready to post.

good job! I bet you are now hooked!

and yes size will usually beat a better conditioned athlete, as in the end it is a BB contest, not a dieting contest! Welcome to the wacky word of competitive BB!

As soon as you walked onstage at the prejudging I knew you were the Welterweight winner and would definitely be a contender for the overall. Your conditioning and proportions were awesome – Tricky really helped prepare you well. You looked confident and presented yourself like an experienced competitor.

When Marzell walked onstage with the other lightheavies, I figured him for Overall – he’s been competing for years and that’s the best I’ve ever seen him. You did, as you said, have the edge on him conditioningwise, especially in the lower body.

But he had a lot of mass for you to overcome, especially in the upper body. I haven’t seen the scoresheets but I am sure you were the unanimous choice for second overall.

Anyway, congratulations. Are you doing the Kentucky Muscle Classic in Louisville in November?

Thanks!

You are probably right - both about being hooked and about size being more of the deciding factor. Guess that only means one thing - I need to be BIGGER!

Thank you very much. I have to hand it to Tricky, he’s been doing this for over 20 years and every single prediction he made about the show has been right on the money. He stayed on me hard about my diet and when I looked soft, he never sugar coated it, always told it just like it was. When I was ready to give up after coming so far, he would talk me into sticking it out. He’s the kind of training partner you hope to keep for a while.

In a way I am content with that. I feel like I can honestly say that I had the best conditioning of any athlete in that show, and I think others knew it as well. To beat Marzell would have been great, but at the same time, he probably deserved the win. Now that I have a little experience, I am anxious to see how much BETTER I can do next time.

You are right, he was a unanimous first, and I was a unanimous second.

At this point, how could I not  Tricky tried to talk me into going ahead and doing nationals the weekend after the muscle classic instead, and even though I did qualify for nationals, I’m not ready for that stage yet. I have a lot of work to do, especially in terms of posing. I’ll be downtown in November, competing as a welterweight again, hopefully we can take that one too!

Fkn oath nice job! Your quads are shredded! I’m sure they’re big but your upperbody dwarfs them lol.

Awesome. Just plain awesome man. Your physique is close to what I am aiming for (though I am years away). Congrats on your wins.

awesome job for your first show, and it looks like you have alot of room to grow, so I’ll be expecting to see you doing some damage on national stage in the future.

Congrats
