The answer is 2.

If you wanted to multiply the quotient of 48 and 2 by the sum of 9 and 3, you’d have to write it as

(48/2)(9+3)

You follow the equation from Left to Right. Same as reading.

Order of Operations:
Parenthesis
Exponents
Multiply or Divide. Reading left to right. Left > Right
Add or Subtract. Reading left to right. Left > Right

Yeah. It can only start a shit storm. It comes down to some people thinking multiplication comes before division in PEMDAS. But multiplication and division are of equal priority so you would read it left to right to solve.

I feel like this question is designed to get people arguing and pissed off at each other. Seen it send the forums on a couple websites into pages and pages of flaming.

And the answer is write your fucking equation in a form that isn’t ambiguous at all.

Should be written as (48/2)(9+3) or 48/(2(9+3))
