To post statistics purporting to show that some Republican voters in the deep south are in favour of banning inter-racial marrriage is implicating that these voters are white and racist. Endy-fuck’n-story.
Yes, the people polled were presumably mostly white (considering that likely Republican primary voters are overwhelmingly white) and at least 46% of them were overtly racist. There is no need for implication or insinuation–it is pretty explicitly straight forward.
Evidence? Or are you saying black people are incapable of being conservative republicans?

I’m sorry, did something I wrote state that white people are racist?
Are you able to read? Is there any point in me typing to you, or will even this fly over your simple little reptile brain?
I’m sorry, did something I ‘wrote(sic) state’ that you said ‘white people are racist’? Do you know what the word ‘implication’ means?

The only thing that this story actually proves is that of 400 republicans who picked up the phone and did not hang up on a phone robot, 46% of them are against interracial marriage.
Phone robots get hung up on before I even know the subject in my house. The second I hear this hiss, I hang up.

Where in this thread have I said that? Last I checked, anyone could be a Republican.

No, I am not saying that “blacks are incapable of being conservative republicans.” You probably should have understood that from the lucid and simple wording of the phrase “likely Republican primary voters are overwhelmingly white.”
As for evidence, I don’t think an uncontroversial statement such as this one necessarily needs to be backed with citations, but since you asked:

Note that only 2% of the Republican party is black.
So yes, what I said still stands: Republican primary voters are overwhelmingly white.
Uh, this is Mississippi, with 37% of the pop is black. A large portion of its elected officials are black and Republican (29% are black) and majority of its counties are redder than the ass of a monkey.

There were a whopping 400 selectively picked people for this study. They had to be registered republicans who usually vote in primaries. The study was done over the phone via phone robot. 8%, or 32 people consider themselves liberal??! 53% were women, 47% men, 68% were over the age of 46…
The one thing the study did not measure? Race. We don’t know if the participants where white, black, hispanic, asian, arab, indain, etc.
BUT…You all assumed them the be a bunch of Crackers, huh? Everybody thinks they are all a bunch of white-ass, cracker-ass honkeys on this survey, when in truth they could all have been black…The only white…sorry, I meant cracker-ass, honkey family in all of Mississippi is the Favre’s.
So out of 400 registered republicans in Mississippi, how many do you suppose are black?

I don’t recall any part of the OP stating that the polled people were white. Yet, post upon post about black people being racist because the conservatives just assume that the people questioned are white.
What does that say?
It says that I am sick of one group of people acting racist and getting a pass…while simultaneously pointing the racist finger at another group.
So yea, maybe I do get defensive when people love to play the “whitey is holding down the brothers” card because I think minorities get a pass acting racist or worse for the most part.
You get quite a few passes as well, though.
Oh really? How so?
Just by being white? THATS RAYCESS!!
You get passes just for being white, yes. And, yes, it is racist.
Now comes the part where I offer either incidents or statistics. And you respond to the incidents by saying “That’s isloated, it doesnt prove any trends”, or respond to the stats with “You dont know that its a causual relationship - besides, I want concrete examples”
Person experience: Some years ago I got a flat on a bicycle and a friend brought his car to help me get it home. Didnt fit in the car and had no straps, and it wasnt a very long ride, so I held it out the window while he drove. Cops pulled us over, we explained, and the cop let us go with nothing more than “Thats the best you could come up with?”. I cant imagine we would have been let off half as easy had we been two black guys in the same situation.

If I see a 20 yr old Crown Vic with black dudes in it driving through my subdivision - you bet I’m gonna be paying extra attention to it.
Am I “racist” ?

Where did it come about that they were registered republicans. The study called the “usual republican primary voters”

Depends on where you were, if you were in Atlanta I am guessing it would have been a different story.
The ONLY point I am trying to make in this whole damn thread is…Other races are just as racist as whites…it’s never ok to be racist…

And I agree. However, no other race benefits from racism in the way whites do. To ignore that fact is to ignore the entire context of any raciacally charged event.
We get to spend our whole lives being assumed to be intelligent, peaceful, competent people. When was the last time someone seemed surprised when you used a big word?

We agree.
But I think that your second statement has more to do with culture than anything else…the black kids I played football with in college had to hide any overt intelligence as to not be labeled a “Uncle Tom college boy” by their fiends back home.

Yes.
Explain.

You’re treating people differently based on their race. You’re assuming that you should pay some extra attention to those black dudes - because they’re black.

Being a country boy raised in the south with a southern accent, you think that doesn’t happen?

That’s not racist. Anyone who understands and has seen racial crime statistics knows that it is completely rational to be more careful around blacks than other races. Race is a highly relevant factor when it comes to crime - but not a determining factor - therefore, it is highly illogical to ignore race in potentially criminal situations.
