This was a cool workout/challenge I did this morning that I wanted to share
It’s an EMOM (Every Minute on the Minute) workout. EMOM, do 1 squat, 1 bench and 1 deadlift. Go until you stop.
I settled on a 300lb squat, 200lb bench and 400lb deadlift for a 900lb total each round.
I used all neutral grip implements. Biggest reason is that they’re all far less technical in set-up compared to the straight bar version, so it meant I could move MUCH faster between movements to be able to meet timing standards. I’d be up to swapping out that bench to weighted dips, but I feel like, even with a loading pin, clipping in and out would take longer.
I’m using the high handles on the trap bar, once again, for faster set-up. Trying to find the balance point with the low handles can get tricky sometimes, and in a rush you can really get hosed. This had a shorter ROM, which I could fix if I wanted to by standing on a platform, but I’m definitely not hurting on the effort front.
Give this a go sometime if your training space can afford. If not, do a push pull instead of a full meet.
