4 Die in LA Fitness Shooting

that was something terrible to read. Im actually surprised noone found that site before the incident and reported it will all the random web browsing now adays. My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved. And i agree with X on on the balance of life.

The corny jokes about an event that involved the shooting of innocent women are super classy.

Roid rage!
Posted here, I hope this was meant sarcastically. But I guarantee that some out there will make this claim in all seriousness, especially since the news article mentions that this douchebag had “started lifting weights and liked it.”

The reality is that guys cable of doing things like this, in addition to being outright psychos, more than likely have very LOW T, not the opposite! A true high T man would probably have spotted this guy pulling out the gun and would have taken him out even before anyone was hurt. But society at large seems intent on labeling testosterone (naturally high or raised through exogenous means) as somehow bad. The media loves to seize upon news like this, or the pro wrestler who killed his family, as “proof” that “roid rage” is real.

Three types of people who go on shooting rampages, crazies, criminals, and crusaders, or somewhere along that spectrum. This guy clearly falls into the crazy pile. Politics are irrelevent, I think thats evident from his blog/suicide note. The guy tried this at least three times that I can count from his blog, he rehearsed the whole thing.

Gun control does not make this impossible, the brady bill would not have prevented this. Hindsight is 20/20, but there are a few easy to implement measures that could have prevented this, such as a bag check at the door by gym staff, a well enforced rule preventing gym bags outside of the locker room, basically anything that puts distance/time between the assailant and his weapons with an observant party that can intervene/delay/deter/diffuse the situation.

He should have bought escorts and hookers.

Complete isolation is the gateway to insanity. It sounds like he was low on friends in any regard and took his frustration out on women because they rejected him. There really is no excuse for this, however, the take home message to all should be to try to balance your life. We all may go through dry spells but if you find yourself without ANY people you can trust to listen to any problem you have, you may want to get out and meet more people.

Honestly, I’m just glad he isn’t HUGE. It’s bad enough this happened at a gym but we damn sure didn’t need any more bad “bodybuilder” publicity.
Well it seemed like he tried to meet new people and had chances here and there to make “something” happen. Yet it seemed like he already accepted and predicted failure before getting into anything and kept this frustration bottled it up every time it happened. I mean how can you help yourself if you exude no confidence whatsoever from the get go?

I mean I know broke average looking losers, who pick up decent looking woman and have a lot of friends. They just don’t give a shit and failed so many times with various women all there was left to do was succeed. Kind of like that quote from Michael Jordan…

Some guys hate to fail. If he just started lifting, he probably felt intimidated. But you’re right, we all know people who are butt ugly and may not even have a job who can pull ass regardless.

This should be incentive for all of us to try harder and to accept that some girls are going to blow you off (damn, that can be a good thing or a bad thing…but I digress). You don’t want to become some 40 year old guy who kills fitness bunnies because he can’t get laid.

Little early for jokes guys, I know its the internet, but have a little compassion. Innocent lives were lost.

I don’t feel that way, when will it be ok to joke about this? Is there a timeline that people should have to adhere to, it is a very tragic event, but it happened and there is nothing we can do but learn from it and move on. Some people cope differently when hearing these things and if people feel comfortable making jokes this early then let them.

lol compassion from most of these fucks on here…? That’s like asking monkeys to have manners, they’ll still fling shit at each other in the end.

I liked what they tried to do in DC, outlaw hand guns. You can protect your family with a rifle…Rifles are hard to conceal. I’m sure the NRA would be ok with this if they weren’t worried about the slippery slope of losing guns all together.

You just can’t kill a lot of people with a bow and arrow, a knife, throwing stars, well at least not a room full of people.

Well, if a girl blows me off, it’s her loss really.

Wow. I kind of wish I hadn’t read his blog.

I got to get out more, I can totally see myself ending up that way too.

Dude, give someone a Katana and see how fast he could kill 4 people. I bet if the dude had a good sword he would have split everyone in the room. If someone wants to go off and kill the fuck out of people, the government is not going to stop them. Hell dude could have driven over a line of people waiting outside a club and killed a shitload of people. Guns are not the problem, mental instability is the problem.

My mom laughed when she was told her mother had cancer and was going to die. Everyone deals with tragedy different as was said above.

What I don’t understand is. The guy had a decent job and seemed pretty happy with it. He played the blame game to much. I think more and more men are losing their balls in todays society and in this case any mental fortitude.

I’ve seen countless guys like him who have landed decent women to bombshells. Yet this guy was a cop out, boo hoo hoo feel pity for me. Of course a lot of girls said he was nice and that’s it. Chics dig guys who are more then just nice. Who don’t bend over backwards just cause a girl is “cute”. There’s a reason why a lot of girls go through that phase where they just date bad boyesque type guys.

He was probably as “Low T” as you could get. It’s a good thing our government is making sure we all will be!

I think this had less to do with low T and more to do with growing up in what sounds like a cold emotionally abusive household combined with maladaptive coping methods due to that and a little bit of mental illness thrown in. In reading his blog on some levels he seems to have really good insight on his problem, but no cognitive ability to change it. He instead blamed others instead of changing his situation.
