36yo Starting TRT. (noob to TRT)

Good Day All,

I have a been a lurker of this particular forum off and on for the last couple years. I had many of the symptoms of Low T but thought I was too young to be in real danger, I thought train, eat right, keep the fat off I should feel better. And I have not. Now some of you might just think well get blood work done and find out were your at… etc.

Well the issue with that is I am 1) Canadian (not as many places in rual northern ontario to get custom blood work) 2) I am military. And military doctors do not like to even think about testing your T levels, let alone a custom blood panel that you request. It took me a year to get my T-tested and that was because my symptoms now include full on ED.

I will post up my results and edit this post with them with in the week to see what you guys think.

Now onto the new guy questions

age - 36

height - 5’ 10"

waist - 32"

weight - 180 ( two years ago I was a lean 195)

describe body and facial hair - (thick heavy facial hair (grows alot slower these days), but not really hairy anywhere else)

describe where you carry fat and how changed - Used to be lean effortlessly - now if I skip 2 days of training my spare tire gains a little more - no longer can see abs, carry fat low in the ab area and chest.

health conditions, symptoms [history]
-Rx and OTC drugs, any hair loss drugs or prostate drugs ever — none - dont have to worry about hair loss drugs ( I have sterling archer quality hair)

-lab results with ranges – will post up once I go get a second copy

-describe diet — I eat as paleo as possible, I supplement with casein hydrolase about 50g a day, leucine, vit- d, nac, tyrosine, vit- c, rhodilia, ZMA, BCAA, and Omega 3 fish oils,
I use coconut oil in my cooking and have (i believe) a good ratio of fats, proteins and healthy carbs.

-describe training - Weight train 4x a week 60min, No real cardio in the winter for me right now. Other than brisk warm up and cool down. Once summer hits I will mountain bike and paddle board around 3x a week.

-testes ache, ever, with a fever? - yes, I have cysts on both testes, they ache, fever? dont think so.

-how have morning wood and nocturnal erections changed — gone, gone, gone. diminishing to non existent for the last 2 years

Libido- Gone-- not even the urge for self love anymore.

I have done one small cycle a year ago of AAS. Anavar 30mg ed for 6 weeks. (anyone that know AAS this is really a nothing cycle) But I felt more than hundred bucks. No fog, Clear headed, motivated, jovial, strong sex drive and I put on about 15lbs of lean muscle. But I dont think that really put me into a T - tailspin. I think that just put me to optimal. But maybe not…

I started day 1 of AndroGel 5g today as perscribed by my doc and urologist (<-- which took me 5 months to see) Believe it or not the military was not even going to give that to me. The wanted to start me on weaker orals first. And If I didnt improve then move me up to androgel.

I understand androgel is really hit and miss for people. But I brought up the cyp subject and was shot down quite quickly. (sometimes you dont argue in the military or you get nothing)

So thats where I am at.

I hope that you got LH/FSH data before starting TRT.

Read the ‘thyroid basics’ sticky, come back with iodine intake info and body temperatures. If you have thyroid problems you may not be able to absorb transdermal T.

What chemicals have you been exposed to?

What blows to the head?

You are probably vit-D3 deficient unless taking large amounts.

You may be over training.

Is cholesterol low?

Okay I went and grabbed my levels (had to cicrumvent some red tape) Now: before poeple say i need this and this checked. I will not be able to just do that. Again I am under military law and medical system. I actually have a doc that listens to me so I may be able to get a couple other tests but pretty slim to no chance.

TSH 2.10 (REF 0.47 - 5.00) MIU/L

TESTOSTERONE 20.5 (REF 8.4-28.7) NMOL/L

FREE TEST 31.8 (REF 31.0-94.0) PMOL/L

FOLATE 24.3 (REF 10.1-999.9) NMOL/L

CHOLERTEROL - 5.05 NMOL/L

TRIGLYCERIDES - .51 NMOL/L

HDL - 1.46 NMOL/L

LDL -3.4 NMOL/L

CHOL/HDL RATIO 3.5 NMOL/L

No but the urologist ordered Bioavail Test yesterday.

Did that sir. will Probably get some iodine sup by the end of the week

What chemicals have you been exposed to?

What chemicals have I not… kidding. I am military so all kinda of nasty stuff in gun cleaning chemical, lubricants, vehicle lubricants, Petro, diesel, paints, industrial stuff, plus a big DIY guy so automotive paints, cleaners etc

What blows to the head?

seriously 2 combat tours, 13 years in the infantry/operator. Plus an adreniline junkie = crashed motorcycles, bikes, cars, boats, bad parachute landings, MMA training, whiplash, exposed to blasts, etc
getting a pituitary MRI - never gonna happen. denied already

You are probably vit-D3 deficient unless taking large amounts.
I take about 5,000 IU daily. In the summer I spend 60-70% of my time in just board shorts so the mister sun helps out a bit too Im sure.

You may be over training.

  • seriously doubt it. If I am even close to overtraining it’s cause my body cant keep up anymore. And GH therapy is next. LOL. A few years ago I was training 6x a week twice a day. If I cant handle 4x a week I need to start looking for a new Job.

Is cholesterol low?

Posted my numbers above.

I do not know SI units cholesterol ranges. Can you help with that?

Your T levels are not bad. Could be a thyroid problem. Note that many/most of the symptoms of low T are the same for thyroid problems. Body temps tell the story. Can you get a an oral fever thermometer?

Working on ? AVGP - Wikipedia

for the SI units— couldnt tell you. I just copied it straight from the lab report. Doc said I had amazing cholesterol which is funny cause I eat a lot of fat from both animal and plant sources. My diet is fat, protein heavy.

I’ll get temps for you in the morning and aft. tomorrow. no problems.

The AVGP is long dead and gone. still early in my career I did stuff in them

training at this level has lots of risks and exposure.

I never thought my T levels where rock bottom bad like some of the lads on here, but aren’t near optimal for a active, somewhat lean 36yo. I just know there are not near what the have been in the past. And this is life. But I have many hard charging years ahead of me and I am not afraid to be on T from here on in. I told the wife at one point that by 40 I would be on the longevity hormone band wagon. LOL. (i guess wish come true?? jokes)

But in all seriousness. The ED and Libido really does strain a marriage. And my total lack of motivation, energy, loss of muscle and I even believe bone mass. I am not really willing to play with that anymore as it has really taken a toll on my personal and professional life.

I had some dealings with the LAV-II at GMDD, not my main activity. Prior to the conversion to CAT engines.

Nice. The lav is an amazing machine. Was the Coyote considered a Lav II. It had the detroit in it.

Also I modified my post above a bit just as you responed to it.

There was no CAT engine when I left there. Wikipedia shows the CAT engine as a change with the LAV-III. I was involved with FEA that the defense team was not able to do at that time. I am sure that they are very proficient now!

I didnt get a temp first thing as I had to buy a new thermometer.
So I was just sitting watching a little tv and decided to at least get an afternoon 98.2

Morning Temp - 97.3

Day Three of androgel. Feel really good. wake up not groggy, coffee be reduced to one small in the morning. Feel that “fire” back in my being. Just feel good almost alpha like again. Libido not really back yet. Not morning or nocturnal wood either.

Think I will really have to convince the doc to test my E2. Might need a compelling augment if anyone has one i.e… a case study.

Would Proviron augment this a bit. Just speaking out loud here.

Gonna front load some iodine today. See if I can get that temp up a bit.

Morning temp 97.3
Afternoon temp 98.3

Took 14mg of iodine this morning. Take another 14 mg tomorrow.

Morning temps seem good… Always above 97.3 -97.6. Afternoon temps in the 98.3-6 range as well

Im back.

So a few new developments.

MRI Done

I do have a pituitary micro adenoma (7mm) I guess 1cm is a marco. So my prolactin levels were way up.
So doc put me on .5mg of Cabergoline once a week and seeing if we need to bump it up.
I stopped taking the androgel cause its junk and self inject my own supplied test cyp at 200mg a week.

As well as .25 adex every 3 days. Put my E to low normal range.

Feeling good other wise. Libido WAY up. Gym is great. Feel good. A little bloat.
