By no means am I looking to come off as a seasoned bodybulder (I have competed 4x before in INBF shows between 2003 and 2008 however as a light heavy) never placed over 4th place but hey, is what it is. I do not claim to be the next best thing in MDP either (if thats not obvious from pictures). With my genes coupled with my past sports background and professional career track along with my current job and its physical demands it should be no shock to anyone I do not have the best hand of cards to put down when it comes to critical physique assesment I know this.
I post my images here for 1) seasoned, trained, critical and analyitcal sets of eyes to look at and evaluate for me and 2) to offer straight, clear cut, honest feedback on what they see 3) and lastly to offer suggestions and helpful bits of advice on how to make progressions forward. I am not over at BB.COM or any other site loaded with trolls, bros, gurus, 18 year old kids and the like to find advise from 20 random people.
I want rational, logical opinions and thoughts from the likes of you guys and gals who frquent this section of the tnation forums to assist me with their two cents based on my current images and stats, nothing more, nothing less.
Some of you here seem to get my message and intent very clear and I thank you for that. Others do not seem to be reading me correctly at all. I hope this posting provides you the clairity needed to better understand my purpose and intent with this thread.

Way too much hate in here. This guy’s expressed why he’s doing the competition. I didn’t see anything on his list indicating he expected to win or place. Nor did he say that was a goal.
Why is it that in the PL forums everyone says “just do a competition, who cares how you place! It’s about the community, experience etc.” and in here people want to say “don’t do it. you’ll embarrass yourself. Get bigger, you can’t win.”
Everyone in here who says this guy needs a wake up call and shouldn’t compete probably needs one themselves. All the negativity is shameful. Who are any of us to say he shouldn’t compete after having prepared for this for months? I’m all for physique critiques in here, but as many of you have mentioned, this IS ‘Rate My Physique’. It’s NOT ‘Give Me Advice On How To Live My Life’. I don’t see anywhere in the OP where he asked if he should do the competition in the first place.[/quote]
EXACTLY,
no need for that much negativity, we are all at different levels and working towards our own personal goals. OP, i do think a good solid bulk is in order but your reasoning behind doing a show (now photoshoot) i think is awesome and well deserved. Like others have said, you look better then 90 percent of the population and keep up the good work. Inspiring others to get involved in fitness, bbing etc and to have them see how far you have come in your personal journey will be nothing short of a great feeling. We all started with some form of inspiration, you could be that person for someone. keep up the good work
I was scrolling throught the pics and was thinking some of the same thoughts as alot of you. However, I came across the back shot and the “Christmas Tree” and was shocked. Well done man! Most of the guys on here talking shit have never had that level of conditioning. Be proud of your accomplishment-not all of us are blessed with being a genetic freak. Respect.
These were from this past weekend Sunday morning. Little pissed with the scale reading and even the images as I see no progress really (outside the gym) in my physique in terms of size or mass gains. Been 6 weeks since I started working with Team 3DMJ and their assistant with my diet plan and training scheme. I will also say that 2 of those 6 weeks were spent living on the aircraft carrier with limited food times, food sources and food prep means. That with teaching 4 fitness classes a day 6x a week for 2 weeks did not help much either.
My strength in the major lifts has jumped up big time so thats been a good sign of course but that does not help me look any better or do any better as a fitness model or as a MPD competitor so lets look at what matters most.
6’2’', 178.6 here. Since Thursday last week things have gotten better being in port now. Back to making, prepping getting all my meals, only 2 classes to teach 5x a week as well for work. No other cardio at all on my end. Hope the numbers get better this weekend.
My coach Jeff Alberts bumped me to new macros Sunday which are now 230 protein, 300g carb and 70 fats with Sundays as carb up day so 400g carbs that day.
My first contest has come and gone folks! Sept 21st was the big day. ANBF SoCal Championships in Brea, CA. Small show and small division of 5 guys and me…I got 1st out of the 6 of us so not too bad. However I will get a much better taste of potential come this Saturday where I compete in my 2nd MPD contest as a novice at the NPC Border States Classic XXXV in San Diego.
If you have facebook account copy and paste link below in browser for album access.
PS…Been working with Jason Theobald since day after show to help me peak as best as possible for the upcoming contest on Oct 5th (and into off season for that matter).
Tan makes a big difference in those pics man. Jason knows his stuff, and I’m sure you’ll continue to add lbm to the areas of your physique that will really make a profound difference the next time you get up onstage.
Thanks a ton bro! Being at 179lbs at 6’2’’ means I have LOTS of work to do to get up to a weight and size that is going to make me legitimately on par to be competitive at the natty level in any organization (NPC aside) I am now dead set and positive that after having done 3 past bodybuilding shows and now 2 MPD shows…I prefer bodybuilding from a competition standpoint. I like the poses better, the 12 compulsory poses better, the look of it better, the demands of it better and the fact that you can ACTUALLY SHOW LEGS better!
Hitting 4 quick quarter turns and being done is all fine ad what not but I felt like something big was missing every time I was up there to be honest. Still took tons of hard work to get to where I did but for the payoff to be 100% worth it to me…bodybuilding is the way to go and with that said, the next time I get on stage wont be sporting board shorts…just saying.
