Living in Wales, but I’m English.

What on earth are these?

Ah sorry dude, just took it that you were from Wales. In that case, whereabouts you from in England?

Seventyfivepencestone curls are like poundstone curls but with only three quarters the weight - just me taking the piss really.

Thursday quickie…

Complexes with the bar and power cleans with 60kg x 3 for 2 sets to get warm.

Deads
80kg x 2
100kg x 2
120kg x 2
140kg x 5

That’s it.

Bench n beach Friday…

Bench
Bar x muchos
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
80kg x a strong 8
60kg x 15

So far so good with the 2x week benching.

OHP
25kg x 10
35kg x 5
45kg x 14

Lat pull
30kg x 10
45kg x 5
60kg x 13

BB curl 20 x 5 ss with
Rope pushdown 20 x 5

That’s a wrap.

Probably wouldn’t have made it in tomorrow to train so got in and did the important bits today instead…

Bench
Same as Friday but without the back off set.

Bench is definitely feeling stronger and more ‘grooved’ with increased frequency.

Front squat
Bar x 10
40kg x 10
60kg x 10
80kg x 6

HLR
5 x 5

Just the basics today.

Felt good to get to the gym today after 3 days of gluttony and lethargy.

Post yuletide yanking aka Deadlift…
80kg x 2
100kg x 2
120kg x 2
140kg x 2
160kg x 1 - not a pr but the most I’ve pulled for a while, probably this year.

Bench
Bar x a bunch
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
90kg x 8
60kg x 12

OHP
25kg x 10
35kg x 5
45 x 15

Lat pull
30kg x 10
45kg x 5
60kg x 14

BB curl 20 x 5 ss with
Rope pushdown 20 x 5

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

New year’s eve training - picking up bars and hitting PRs…

Bench
Bar x a gazillion
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
80kg x 9 - equals a rep PR
60kg x 15

Front squat
Bar x 10
40kg x 10
60kg x 10
80kg x 7 - is a PR, could have got 8 but decided to be smart and leave 1 in the tank.

Bear complex
Bar x 3
30kg x 3
40kg x 3
50kg x 3
60kg x 2 - pretty sure this is also a PR. I might have got 3 but some bell end came and started doing back raises right next to me and I had to step to the side a little on 3rd rep in the FS racked position or risk taking his head off with the bar. Subsequently I lost it and missed the push press.

Really enjoyed this session. Simple, solid… and great to end the year on with some PRs.

Happy new year!

Thursday training-
My back has been in a shit state since last week’s deadlifts. It was ok to FS on Monday but I know DLing will aggravate it further. So no deads today - just stuff that will help it settle down, ergo

HLR
5 x 4

Back raise
25 x 4

A fuck ton of stretching and mobility work.

Friday

Bench
Bar x a centrillion
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
80kg x 9

OHP
25kg x 10
35kg x 5
45kg x 12
Forced to use a different shitty bar today so not too worried about hitting a couple of reps less.

Lat pulls
30kg x 10
45kg x 5
60kg x 15

BB curl
20kg x 25/15/12

Rope pushdown
15kg x 25/15/15

Okay, I haven’t lifted for a couple of weeks because I’ve had to prioritize other things (mostly work) temporarily. So back at it today after am enforced deload.

Bench
Bar x a ton
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
80kg x 8
Felt strong on these. Don’t seem to have lost strength at all (not that I have much to lose on bench).

Bear complex
Bar x 3
30kg x 3
40kg x 3
50kg x 3
60kg x 1 x 3

Front squat
40kg x 10
60kg x 10
80kg x 5

HLR
6/5/5

All good. Kept at least a rep in the tank on everything. Felt strong. Will have to be a lazy bastard for 2 weeks more often!

Yesterday - quick session:

Bear complex
Bar x 5
40kg x 3
60kg x 1

Deadlift
60kg x 2
80kg x 2
100kg x 2
120kg x 2
140kg x 3

HLR
5 x 4 sets

Today:
Was supposed to train but work happened. Will try to make it up tomorrow if I can.

Yesterday - quick session:

Bear complex
Bar x 5
40kg x 3
60kg x 1

Deadlift
60kg x 2
80kg x 2
100kg x 2
120kg x 2
140kg x 3

HLR
5 x 4 sets

Did not get Friday’s session in over the weekend so picked up where I left off today. I have a new job so training may may be a bit more of challenge to get into a routine at least for a while - but hey, life and supporting my family comes first.

Monday catch up:

Bench
Bar x a bunch
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
80kg x 8

Cable row
35kg x 20, 19, 15

OHP
30kg x 25, 20, 15

BB curl
15kg x 100 ← ouch!

Done son.

Bit of a mish mash of catching up shit today-

Bear complex
Bar x 5
30kg x 4
40kg x 3
50kg x 2
60kg x 1 x 3

Deadlift
60kg x 2
80kg x 2
100kg x 2
120kg x 2
140kg x 4

Bench
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
80kg x 8

CG bench
50kg x 21, 17, 14

Lat pull
45kg x 25, 15, 11

Notes:
Not bad, nothing spectacular, but got it done. My back has felt shite all week but actually seems better doing this. I also did 3 x 8 HLRs last night which I felt really strong on despite generally feeling like a smashed bag of arseholes.

Monday training:

Bear complex
Bar x 5
40kg x 3
60kg x 1 x 3

Front squat
40kg x 10
60kg x 10
80kg x 8 rep PR

Bench press
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
80kg x 9 equal to rep PR

Front plate raise
20kg x 25 x 2

Notes:
Long busy day at work preceded this. I also did not eat enough today prior to training. Because of these two things I went in half expecting a somewhat sub par training session and so was pleasantly surprised with the subsequent PRs.

As Chuck Berry once said - it goes to show you never can tell.

Last coupla days:

Thursday

HLR
10, 10, 8
plus lots of rolling, stretching, mobilising and other ab work not really worth listing.

Friday

Deadlift
60kg x 2
80kg x 2
100kg x 2
120kg x 2
140kg x 5

Bench press
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
80kg x 10 rep PR

Cable row
40kg x 22, 16, 13

OHP
40kg x 20, 12, 8

BB curl
20kg x 30, 21

If I count the HLR’s, that’s 3 PRs in a week. WhoohoO!

Tuesday training:

Bear complex
Bar x 5
40kg x 3
60kg x 1 x 3 <–These felt super easy today.

Front squat
40kg x 10
60kg x 10
80kg x 9 rep PR

Bench press
Bar x 10
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
90kg x 3
All easy here too.

Front plate raise
10kg x 25 x 2

Done.

Friday training:

Complexes to warm up, then…

Deadlift
60kg x 2
80kg x 2
100kg x 2
120kg x 2
140kg x 6 rep PR

Bench
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
90kg x 4 equal to per PR
50kg x 23, 14, 14

That’s it. Just the basics today, no extras, no frills. No time for it. Double busy.

Tuesday training:

Bear complex
Bar x 5
40kg x 3
60kg x 1 x 3
All good and fast.

Front squat
40kg x 10
60kg x 10
80kg x 10 - rep PR

Bench press
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
90kg x 4

Short and sweet again. This is all pretty boring to read I guess but the recent run of rep PRs are pretty far from boring to get. It seems like the enforced brevity and simplicity of training sessions at the moment is actually yielding some decent results.

Friday training:

Bear complex
Bar x 5
40kg x 3
60kg x 1

Deadlift
60kg x 2
80kg x 2
100kg x 2
120kg x 2
140kg x 2
160kg x 1
My lower back has been a bit jacked up this week so I considered giving deads a miss today. I then reconsidered that this would be gay.

Bench
30kg x 10
50kg x 10
70kg x 10
90kg x 4
60kg x 15/12/10

Hammer curls
10kg x 25/18/13 ss with
HLR x 6/5/4
Minimal rest here and feet up right overhead on HLRs.

Done.

Skipped my early week session this week due to lack of time/my boy’s birthday/kinda needing a bit of a deload any ways. Did a quick pulling session today:

Bear complex
Bar x 5
40kg x 3
60kg x 1

Deadlift
60kg x 2
100kg x 2
120kg x 2
140kg x 2
160kg x 2 - equal to PR

HLR
6 x 3 sets

Followed by a load of core, mobility and stretching that I can’t be arsed to list.
