3% Body Fat

Holy shit 3% at 120lbs is 3.6lbs of fat. IF he really is at 3% he should have serious health problems that will be nearly irreversible. At 3% BF you can cause serious brain muscle and heart damage, I THINK kidney damage to.

I HAVE seen someone who was around 3-4% she is clearly anorexic and looks like a jogging skeleton. It was one of the saddest things I have seen.

When I first started lifting I wanted to get ripped. And I did. I got down to between 4-5% and looked silly with my shirt off. With my shirt on I looked like a 5’9", 135lb pencil. I also felt like shit ALL DAY. I coldn’t think straight, was confused by the simplest of tasks, had severe anxiety and was really weak, even by 5’9 135lb standards.

Today, I’m a shade under 190lbs at about 12% and I feel good, look good and am a shit load stronger. My ultimate goal is 205 and between 8-10%, which for me is about as low as I want to go. I wouldn’t reccomend to anyone to get below 6%, unless it’s for a VERY short period of time.

Body fat percentages are much like woman’s dress sizes. The numbers keep going down, but the people just keep getting fatter.

I predict in the near future people are going to come here claiming to have negative body fat percentages.

just to muddle the whole thing up even more, I’ve been calipered at 5% and DEXA scanned (gold standard) at 9% 10 minutes apart. so the 7% at a doctor is garbage too, because he probably calipered him

I have a friend, he doesn’t lift weights at all but he runs a lot

he says he took an online test that said he was 3% bodyfat. He told me at most he was 5% bodyfat. I tried to explain going below 4% can be dangerous and there’s no way he’s walking around everyday at 3%. He’s 5’8 and about 120 pounds.

So is it even possible?

At 5’8" and 120, does it matter what his bodyfat is? My dick weighs more than he does.[/quote]

You perceived it as a question of athletic accomplishment.

after looking at this thread, i measured myself at work/gym, and it got me at 5% even, and i’m in the early stages of a bulk (can still see some veins in upper legs, but it seems pretty low (however i used to be relatively consistant under 5 according to calipers and electronic for much of my lifting career)…so its possible that he legitamently is getting these #'s…although 3 sounds rediculous as when i was supposedly under 5 i’d have veins in my abs, and not just at the very bottom and constantly felt shitty and depressed

…but just because someone gets these #s doesnt mean they’re real…i’d guess i’m actually around 8ish maybe
