2busy's Training Log of Solitude

Not wanting to belabor a bad experience, but maybe a pic of that thing that caused your stroke?

I’ll see what I can do.

The follow up Transesophageal Echocardiogram taken yesterday could see where the mass was attached to the mitral valve.

I see the Cardiovascular surgeon who was so excited to operate on me Thursday.

Good luck! Hope Mr. Slice and Dice gets disappointed.

It’s Miss Slice and Dice. And she wears expensive high heels. That was the first thing I ever saw of her, her heels appearing under the curtain to my hospital room.

I stand corrected! Then I hope SHE is disappointed, about the surgery that is. Did the rest of her compliment the expensive shoes? Maybe she has been looking for a big, strong, hockey player, her whole life.

Yes, the rest of her matched the heels.

Yea, I somehow think she’s not looking for a trophy husband.

Spin Level 4 - 20 minutes.

Right knee still sore. At least I now walk without a limp

I see, too bad you are clearly over qualified. Oh well, her bad luck.

She’s married, lol.

She went to med school at the University of Texas Health Science Center.

Almost had a Texan sticking a knife in my heart :open_mouth:

She probably isn’t a native Texan if she was going to use anaesthetic. :smiling_imp:

Well? What did Mrs. Slice and Dice say yesterday? Are you going to live or what?

Well I got to see the hot doctor, lol.

The TEE on Monday essentially revealed the suspect. I have a irregular/rough area on one the the flaps of the mitral valve.

This apparently allows blood clots to form there. That’s the consensus of the cause of the stroke.

It appears that just taking the low dose aspirin during the week I was in the hospital caused the clot that was there to dissolve. That’s why nothing was there for the day of the operation.

Course of action is to stay on the aspirin and get another ultrasound in six months.

They reviewed the first regular ultrasound and they were able to find the clot, now that they knew where to look. So I should be able to just have those for reviewing.

We also discussed when we both realized we could be astronauts. In her profile she stated seventh grade when she was told her eyesight would prevent it by a teacher, mine was fourth grade when I was prescribed glasses. In second grade I calculated my best chance was to become a Marine fighter pilot, since seven of the twelve Mercury Astronauts where Marine fighter pilots. I knew you had to have 20/20 vision so those dreams were gone.

The ironic thing is that my vision went to 20/20 in my early 20’s…

She said I wouldn’t be seeing her again. Unless they come up with a reason to cut on my heart.

Well, I’m pleased no surgery is required for you at this time. But it must be a bit concerning to know how closely that mitral valve area has to be watched henceforth.

It may still be that I will need surgery to fix that.

Time will tell.

All that’s a relief to read.

Well that sounds like a pretty good report. Glad they figured out the problem and no surgery in the immediate future. Just too bad you’ll have no visits to the Hot doc for a while. :weary:

Aspirin to the rescue. And yes glad they were able to determine that.

Refereeing - 2 hours

I took the games to give it a little bit of work. This weekend is the Cornhusker State games, of which they have ice hockey from 6 year olds to adults.

I took 2 hours of the 8 year olds.

Right knee is still maybe 70%… Got someone else to take my Sunday games, figured I’m still not quite ready.
