League Game. Team won 3-0. And the team had 4 penalties.

I was sent to the box for slashing.

Well, technically it was a slash.

I don’t blame them, it takes awhile to get the colour out of the ice :-p

Not to mention getting the ice level again. Body heat vs. Ice. Ice loses.

Laser leveling Zambonis fix everything.

dear dilapidated,

…what the hell do you do for a living to be skirting through two motorcycle accidents? are you secret service?

one of my high school friends brother cut his helmet down to within a 1/4 inch of his head in a wreck with a guardrail. he was wiping his brothers butt for three-four months until he could do it himself. he gave up bikes.

forget the geritol bone up on the Vit D3, L-Lysine, Vit C and melatonin (it is natures anti-stress hormone because it counters the effects of high cortisol)

i take about 2mg melantonin at about the 40 minute workout mark w/bcaa’s on dead lift day and squat day. it will help avert muscle catabolism. your muscles are always either growing or diminishing - there is no holding pattern. Stress and poor diet, balls to the wall lifting, poor sleep leads to muscle catabolism. i lift eod.

P.S.

…are all nine of your children from the same woman you are divorcing?

?..and now for something completely different…?

It is only a slash if it draws blood. Refs are getting too tight these days.

Hey Conservative, thanks for the advice on the melantonin and the bcaa’s, I’ll give that a try.

Yes, all of the kids were from the same woman/marriage.

I now tend to replace motorcycle thrills with hockey thrills. However you can get hurt doing that too. See leg xrays from earlier in the training log, lol.

Technically it was a slash.

The guy carried the puck over our blue line and I clamped my stick over his, tying it up.

Then I noticed he was losing his balance, so I put some more pressure on my stick and he fell over.

SLASHING
The use of the stick will be limited to only playing the puck. Any stick contact, as a result of a slashing motion, to the hands/ arms or body of the opponent will be strictly penalized. In addition, hard slashes to the upper portion of the stick (just below the hands) of an opponent, with no attempt to legally play the puck, shall also be penalized.

So it was slashing.

I thought it was worth it.

Wednesday - 11/13/2013 - Hockey

1 hour skating lesson. A lot of edge drills again. My clockwise crossovers are getting more natural.

1 hour scrimmage. Got a goal from one knee in a scrum in front of the net.

A guy visiting from Jakarta (used to live in town) was visiting, borrowed some gear and came to the scrimmage.

He collided with another guy and hit the ice left cheekbone first. Bad concussion.

We ended up getting him off to the hospital.

And I always thought we called it shinny was because shins were fair game…

i should stress that melatonin can make you lethargic. my workouts are at the end of the day so that doesn’t effect anything on my schedule. and i only take it on dead lift and squat days where the weight lifting taxes the central nervous system. (i take several each night before sleep as well)

it wouldn’t really make you that lethargic, but everyone is different. if it makes you bat your eyes you wouldn’t want to take it while on the ice, or some recreation with the family.

and don’t play with blasting caps.

Well I wasn’t done skating yet for the weekend…

Sunday 11/17/2013 - Hockey

Refereed 2 more games- 2 hours skating.

It amazes me how people can claim they saw a puck go in from the far bench in a hockey game.

That’s why they need referees, see you got mad skillz!

The key to being a good referee is to be in the right position to make the call.

If I’m on the goal line 6 feet from the net, they can’t argue I made the wrong call. I was there, they were not.
